I enjoyed this book, but it took me forever to read because I have been going through the thesis-writing process and it had been too long since I read Starcrossed.
I'm not going to give it a "star" rating at this time.
I really wish I had read Starcrossed again before picking up Dreamless. On Goodreads I decided not to give it a “star” rating because I couldn’t put a value on the book.
Some things I liked:
Hector. He’s awesome, loveable, and a really strong supporting character. I’d LOVE to see a short story about him and finding his love on his own.
ORION. He’s a new character that I seriously enjoyed having as an addition to the story!!!! Must have more of him, please.
The mythology. Angelini seriously did her homework!! I love how she incorporated a lot of mythology and it flowed well, kept the storyline interesting, and was consistent throughout the book.
Setting. I LOVE that it is set in Nantucket. The description is gorgeous and it is perfect for the action.
Meeting some of the major gods. That was pretty awesome and seeing their personalities portrayed by the author was interesting.
THE ENDING. Yes, it was awesome. I totally felt that the wait was worth it in the end. My heart was racing and I was so happy to see some serious action.
Some stuff that was…okay, but not great:
The Underworld. I just thought too much of the book was set here. I know that was the main point of the storyline, but it was just too repetitive. That’s just my opinion, but every time I picked up the book hoping for something exciting that would progress the story, I ended up in the Underworld. I can totally sympathize with Helen getting stuck there every night.
Lucas. I know he’s the MC’s boyfriend, but honestly. I didn’t know what to think of him most of the time. I guess that’s the point, but I was so frustrated that I wish he’d just…hit the road.
Overall, I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I LOVE mythology and Angelini’s spin on it is so creative and interesting.

this one while interesting i must admit annoyed me just a little. while i understand the need for the love triangle in this story Orion really did very little for me in the way of a love interest and it felt like for the most part Helen felt the same. the "cousins" storyline i must say i am over entirely and i was hoping the truth would come out (to the main characters as us the readers already know) the ending i was quite impressed with as was i with the authors portrayal of the underworld but there were a few moments of confusion that did not quite add up (i.e. at various points Hector was called Lucas' brother instead of his cousin)

En resumen: Malditos es una continuación a la altura, con un nuevo personaje que viene para quedarse en los corazones de todas (principalmente xD) y una trama igual de absorbente que el primer volumen de la trilogía El Despertar. Si te gustó Predestinados, no puedes perdértelo.

"Dreamless" was a quicker read for me than the first book, "Starcrossed." All our favorite characters are back, along with a few new additions---including the hunky Orion. Helen is coming into her amazing Scion powers and desperately trying to find a way to defeat the Furies. Her descent night after night into the Underworld it taking its toll. How fortuitous for her to discover someone willing to help her. (Could she actually find someone who can turn her head from her love, Lucas?)
Josephine Angelini provides the reader ample twists and turns in "Dreamless" as well as continuing to developing favorite non-Scion characters such as Claire and Matt. I liked "Dreamless" and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you enjoy Greek mythology I recommend this book and its predecessor.

I liked this very much but I couldn't give it 4 stars, because, I'm not gonna lie, Lucas and Helen should know by now that they're not related. I'm a bit disappointed that the last book ended that way, that we've been tortured throughout this book by it and we STILL have to wait. I mean, I just think it would have been perfect if Daphne told Helen at the end and then she would've looked from Orion to Lucas and then THE END. That would have been exciting. I can handle a love triangle, but this fake incest has been going on too long :)
Besides all that, I enjoyed this book and was surprised again and again about all that happened. Angelini knows how to keep the tension going, that's for sure.
i don't really like Orion though. And not just because he's spoiling my OTP. I just don't like him.

This is the second book in the Starcrossed Trilogy. Sometimes 2nd books are place holders until the author gets around to writing the third, but I didn't find that that was the case with this book. Angelini didn't waste much time re-hashing the first book (I hate when authors do that), and got right to the second installment of her story, a loose following of the Greek Mythology of Paris and Helen of Troy.
In this book, Helen learns more about her Demi-God powers and we also meet a new character, Orion, another dreamy boy for Helen to distract herself with. :) In my opinion, this part of YA fiction gets old. I guess it isn't just YA fiction that has this problem, but I can't figure out who in the world can relate to women who are torn between two juicy lovers? Does that ever really happen in real life? Most likely, no. So why do authors consistently feel the need to use this plot device? I just don't get it. I don't usually mind reading it, I just think it is too overused to feel original to me. But I digress...
I like the pace of this story, the plot moved along at a good pace. I still liked the characters. I would still recommend this series, although I think I liked the first book better. It was a fun read.

Dreamless (Awakening), is the second novel in the Starcrossed series. I will say that I really did love the first novel in this series, Starcrossed and though I liked/loved this novel I still have to say that book #1 was my favorite.
Dreamless (Awakening) now has Helen Hamilton coming to terms with the fact that she is a Scion (a descendant of a Greek god and mortal) who has the power to descend into Tartarus as well as a few other powers that the people descended from her House can lay claim to. Helen also is dealing with her love for Lucas Delos and another Scion named Orion who she can be with in a way that she cannot be with Lucas. Helen, Orion, and the other characters that make up the Delos clan with Helen's mortal friends Matt and Claire do their best to help Helen on her quest to destroy the Furies.
Once again I have to say that Ms. Angelini has her Greek mythology down pat throughout this novel. We find out more about Helen and Helen's mother Daphne in this novel. The only reason that I gave this novel three and a half stars is the dreaded love triangle set up in this novel and the dumbing down of characters.
Seriously I loathe love triangles in novels for a variety of reasons but in this novel it was 100 percent not necessary. First of all there was already a lot of moving parts going on in this novel and I didn't really need to have one more thing thrown at me as a reader. Reading about Helen and how much pain she was pointing herself into every night trying descending into Tartarus in order to fight the Furies was really all I needed to read about. I have no idea why every Young Adult novel I read always has a love triangle (looking at you Hunger Games and Twilight) going on.
The other plot point that I thought was seriously goofy is that in this novel Helen and Lucas are led to believe something that if anyone with basic math should have known was a lie. I thought it was beyond dumb myself and then the Ms. Angelini clues in the readers to the lie as well which I also didn't think was a good idea. If anything all it did was increase my frustration. First, I can do math so I already knew that this plot point was a lie. Second, it caused me to get really annoyed with everyone in this novel who can somehow decipher ancient Greek texts and have the power to fly and swim under water without breathing but adding 1+1 together was too hard.
I still really liked this novel and was glad to see the appearance of some other Greek gods and goddesses in this novel. I would recommend to fans of Starcrossed in order to find out what happens to Helen.

Awesome Book! Helen got a little whiny and somber and it started to irritate me but then Angelini did something very few authors do...she acknowledged it! Helen knew she was acting this way and pulled herself out of it which was great...I wish it had happened sooner but what can you do. Now I just have to wait until MAY!!!!
