This is a sweet, but fraught, love story told in a very sentimental way. The story pulls on your heartstrings, but I found it to be just a little redundant.

I’ve seen the movie and preferred the story and performances of the senior actors more than the younger actors. But in the book, I liked all the main characters and found how Noah was written a lot more appealing and fitting for the era.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, actor Barry Bostwick, did an excellent job delivering the story.

Review: This was a book about love and I wish one of the major plotlines wouldn't have existed in it. It could have been done away with and would have been a far better book. The old timey feel of this didn't really move the needle for me but I bet you that this is the type of book, where the movie adapted from it is a million times better than it. I'm going to find out because I haven't ever watched the movie yet.

Warning: There's sexual content that I highly recommend skipping over as you read this, as I myself did.
I can't recall there being any cussing in this book. If you hate cussing, do your own research first.

February 2023 - Romance

For me, a book review also means the story behind my reading of that particular book. This book was sitting unread on my dorm table for a couple of years, and I borrowed it from my friend Fariha on whose tabke it sat for another couple of years, and before that she had borrowed it from her another friend (...). So at this point, none of us has any idea who the original owner of this book is!

I've felt three things reading this book-
  1. A deep urge to live like Noah, surrounding by the nature, doing things that make me happy, enjoying the little things.
  2. Really afraid to get old.
  3. Realizing again, that Romance is not my genre :'3

This was a solid good book. I watched the movie first a while ago and it is very different to the book. In the movie Noah was unlikable to me but in the book he is poetic and beautiful. I find it interesting how this book spans a whole lifetime almost and how it dips between both Ally’s and Noah’s thoughts. It was sad, tears were shed, and it was beautifully written. The descriptions were lovely. It wasn’t, to me, ‘the love story to end all love stories’ as described on the cover but it was good. Very short.
