The Land of Open Graves: Living and Dying on the Migrant Trail by Jason De León, Michael Wells
jlwahm's review
3.5
There are a lot of parts that I dislike about this book, specifically some of De Leon’s methods and his graphic descriptions. However, the overall content of this book reveals very important insights for the migration process. It was a worthwhile read, but at the same time very hard to consume.

I read this book for my introductory anthropology class and I am very glad I did. It was very heavy and incorporated a good amount of anthropological theory into it, which was difficult to get through and understand at certain points, but the anecdotes and other stories were extremely moving and really offered a lot of insight into this issue. I'm grateful I read this book and I would recommend it to just about anyone, but particularly people living in the United States.
