I loved the first book in this series. It brought an extra layer to the Villain. As this was not the case in this book, I was dissapointed with how this story of the Beast continued.
First of all I already found it weird that we would get a backstory of him. He was a brat, he got cursud for it. That didn't change at all and he turned out to be an even more spoiled brat.
On top of it a big part that was told was the movie but then with some extra perspecitves on it. Even that did not make me excited about the story.
What I did like about it is how it made references to other stories so it alle matches togheter. The Evil Queen was mentioned as was Charming and Ursula.
So I hope book 3 will be better. Hopes on Ursula.

I really really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately I couldn't thanks to atrocious writing and horrible descriptions and overall terrible plot. It would take pages and pages to explain everything this book did wrong. I read the two previous books of this 'series' and like those but this one is by a different author and I think that was the problem. I am intrigued by how it was tying this story to others especially since it made it seem like we will be getting one about Ursula from the Little Mermaid, but I hope it will be by a different author and make more sense. I must admit I enjoyed parts of this story, but overall I feel it could have done a lot better. Like a lot. Man I wish this was a good book...

3.5 Stars...
While I did enjoy this book, it lost some of the magic the first book had. That book read like a Disney/Grimm fairy tale mash-up and it was great. It felt like a timeless tale that could have been written ages ago.
This book? It felt like the author was told at the 75% mark to wrap-it-up and it was INCREDIBLY rushed. The last few chapters of the story went by in a flash...Beast chases Belle out of the castle...Beast saves Belle from wolves...Beast shows Belle the library...they fall in love...Belle goes to save her dad...Gaston attacks the Beast...Beast 'dies'...Beast turns back to a Prince and they live happily ever after...boom, boom, boom. All this within a handful of pages. It was jarring. Especially considering this was all told to us through the three/four crazy sister witches and not as it happened to the characters.
I see some people here feel very strongly in their hatred of the sisters, but I don't mind them. They add an interesting element to the stories that I enjoy...I just don't like it when they take over a story, as they did here, and as they, unfortunately, look to do in Book 3.
Overall, I'll continue on with this series because flaws aside, I am enjoying it. I just wish the author would stay true to the characters she's supposed to be writing about.
