Me before the book:
Thank you author for the beautiful content warning, and the playlist. I am going in blind which i feel like its a very big mistake.

Me after the book:
I would def also be straing respectfully at these men. Yeah i get the feeling that this author does not know what feminisn really means. I really want to read a book where its dark romance but without the shaming and degrading women. Like its not sexy or hot, its disgusting.

Check the trigger warning before reading, because this book has alot! But, if you're not easily triggered or like them all, then, by all means, jump right in!

Vengeful Gods is a why choose (dark) romance with a multi pov, secret society and three dangerously hot men. Revenge, romance, secrecy and looooooots of spice, but that's not all! All these lovely things are paired with an awesome plot that will leave you in a chokehold ;) Elliott Rose doesn't disappoint, four stars from me!

Thank you to Elliott Rose for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC, my opinions are my own and my review is voluntarily.

Let me start by saying, I read some real FILTHY stuff, but this one right here might be my top FILTHIEST/ STRAIGHT SMUT read of 2024! There’s very few books I would get in paperback form for my personal library, Vengeful Gods is one of them. I’m not gonna lie, it was a yes just based on the cover alone, but that blurb captivated me! She’s real thick and took me a few days to get through, but it was well worth it!

RH/ Why choose has become one of my favorite tropes ever. Elliott did an incredible job with not only giving an amazing storyline, great characters and wrote the spice scenes perfectly, it was a great balance between them all. This was a masterpiece all on its own. Even though it’s a long read, I never once got bored at any part of it. She gave plot, EXTREMELY spicy scenes, character development, storyline and really kept me captivated whenever I could sneak some chapters in. I have never been more jealous of a FMC in my life until Fox came along. Three men wanting to do everything and anything for her and have totally possessive/ tad bit unhinged vibes?! SIGN ME UP.

This is my top read of 2024 and will be the reason I end up in a book slump because how does one top this masterpiece of a read?! You don’t. I need more like YESTERDAY! Thank you for sharing this beauty with the world, I literally can’t wait to read more of your books REAL soon!

Ok…I decided to get back into dark, dark romance, read one book that was super dark and then turned around and read this one😂 I have very few complaints. The characters in this are great and their growth is awesome, both as individuals and as a relationship group. Fox annoyed me a little at times, and Ky could get a bit repetitive, but I still loved them all. The plot was mediocre for most of the book, but interesting enough, and then at the end the plot exploded into chaos and intrigue, it was fun, if not a little rushed. I loved this.

Tropes: why choose (mmmf), swords cross, pierced dick, enemies to lovers, somnophilia, secret society, 'we own you,' text banter, DVP, 'yes daddy,' 'fuck me like you hate me'
Favorite quote: "But the way she winces as she gathers her things is unmistakable. 'What's wrong with you?'
'My ovaries are trying to kill me. Not unlike you are, too.' She snaps at me. 'Have it your way; sort your own damn cuts out. Better yet, let them get all gross and infected. I'm going to bed.'" - pgs 304-5

Review:
Appreciation for the dedication!! If you loved Den of Vipers, this book is for you. The opening chapters are rather similar, which is not a bad thing. The three men have distinct behaviors so following them was easy. I love Ven so much! Thorne was overthinking so much, not unlike me, and he should have used his head.
The plot was a combination of sex and layered plot. There was a content level of 'mature' conversation between the four.

Man, this is one spicy book...

I felt like this story was definitely more character/romance-driven, and less plot-driven. There were a few times I thought the storyline was headed a certain direction, and then it didn't really go anywhere. But, to be honest, the romance side of things made up for it. I adored each of the MMCs, Thorne, Ky & Ven were everything. It's a rare thing where I read a Why Choose book and don't come out of it with a favourite MMC. I enjoyed them each equally, and thought that their character designs were unique.

A part of me wanted the FMC to grow a little more of a backbone; however, I realize this was in her own character's design to be submissive.

At times the story dragged a bit - it definitely took a bit to get into the book, and I think that it could have been 100 or so pages shorter than it was. This could have been made into a duet, if the plot was filled out a little bit more (I felt like the ending was a little on the rushed side).

Overall, it was a fun read and I would still recommend it to anyone who loves dark romance & smutty reads!
