I really could’ve skipped this book and the 2nd one. This is a character driven novel and aside from Harper none of the characters by book 3 were likeable. Rhen was mediocre in the first few but by Book 3 I just found him bland and didn’t bring much. Grey was my favourite character in book 1 and the reason I wanted to continue the series. Now by this one, I just don’t understand his logic or why he made his decisions. This book didn’t have enough Harper chapters, and when I didn’t like the other 3 characters it made it a slog to get through. The plot also wasn’t that exciting. The first book was a fun beauty and the beast retelling but by book 3 most of the magic had gone.

No a pak zas pokračovali v přípravách.

Honestly this series was a disappointment. I didn't really care for the 2nd book and this last one finalized how I felt about it. It was lame. Literally at the end of this book I couldn't stop rolling my eyes.

Grey leaving to protect Rhen's throne was like ok sure...I guess, but then after what Rhen did to Grey nothing made sense. The bond between Rhen and Grey felt fake. They seemed like forced acquaintances throughout the curse and especially after. They didn't seem close like "brothers". The characters didn't even act like themselves. I thought that we would get more explanation as to why and how - how is Lilith so powerful, Grey's whole childhood?, why does Grey have to take the throne if he didn't want it in the first place, JUST LORE in general. Everything was just briefly discussed then we moved on to the same old, same old of how everyone is feeling.

The chemistry was always between Harper and Grey in my eyes. Rhen was ok, but now looking back I don't think Harper should have ended up with him. And Lia Mara!! I couldn't stand her at all - annoying and spineless. Lia Mara !! being pregnant at the end, oh wow, so *original*.

Everything about this series ending up being messy and underwhelming.

Sadly, life happened and it threw me in a reading slump fairly soon after I started this book. When all I wanted was to get lost in it but I felt myself withering every time I needed to re-read the same sentence because my heart wasn't in it...

I managed to come out of it at my own pace and, have finally been able to enjoy it to it's fullest! This book - well, this whole series! - has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I have loved that every choice has a consequence, sometimes even the right choice. I have loved how real it feels to the characters, that there are lives at stake and futures. I have loved that there isn't a right or wrong side, this isn't a good guys versus the bad guys. This is just... Different perspectives on the same situations.

I have SCREAMED at this book so much, I'm surprised my neighbours haven't called the cops. It's been wonderful and the only thing I wish is that my own life hadn't taken my head down a path where it deprived me of the joy of reading...

When all is said and done, the question becomes, how will you find a way to move forward?
