Ths was a rather predictable and occasionally mildly amusing read set in Melbourne (Australia). Unfortunately the most memorable line in it was "He was holding a hardcover book the size of a hamster,..." which caused no end of debate among friends as to what a hardcover book the size of a Hamster actually looks like.
Bea is a book obsessed advertising copywriter who has moved to Melbourne from Perth after she accidentally let slip to the groom that her bestie, Cassandra, slept with a waiter on her hen's night causing Cassandra's hours-old marriage to implode. In spite of the fact the Cassandra is mad at her Bea insists on texting, calling and messaging every little update and continually apologises.
Bea's only (sort of) friends in Melbourne are Dino, her snarky Barrista, and Ramona, Bea's cleaning lady.
While browsing in a secondhand bookshop Bea comes across a book full of marginalia and instantly becomes obsessed with finding the previous owner of the book. She starts an instagram account to document her journey (honestly not sure why as this adds absolutely nothing to the plot). Meanwhile, Bea puts her foot in it at work and gets fired, she turns 30, and meets a charming man named Zach who is waaaay to perfect to be true, and starts a book-dating event (you come to find your perfect book not a person). And in spite of everything going on this manages to be really, well, boring. I finished it to see if the things I predicted were going to happen did (they did).
People have told me the previous book by these authors was better but frankly I'm not inclined to try it.

I relate a lot to Bea, as she is book obsessed and has moved interstate without knowing anyone, and I enjoyed the idea of getting to know the bookish spots in my new city through this book. I did however find it incredibly predictable and cliché. The only thing that wasn't predictable was the reveal of who Mystery Writer was. I probably won't read again, but it was a good enough filler book.

DNF - pg 126. Wayyyyy too corny for me and the protagonist is too annoying. Main character just lost her job and I couldn’t care less so I’ve decided to stop. Just not for me unfortunately!

I usually love books about books, but this just didn't do it for me.

Kinda cute, kinda frustrating. Lots of HP references which I don’t enjoy

It was cute, a bit predictable in some parts but I liked the literary references

I quite enjoyed this! Fun little romance novel, I thought the coffee cup notes and book titles were very sweet. Found Bea pretty relatable (at least to me I suppose!)
