Not The best Junji Ito. Uzumaki and Shiver still reign. The Main Story was good. The short Stories weren't my Cup of Tea.

3.5 stars

For me this book is great. I have read almost all Junji Ito's books and this is one of his good ones. It's well-composed, horrifying and dark. It's pretty similar to "Smashed" style. However, i don't like it as much as "Fragments of Horror" or "Black Paradox". 

Recommended! The first story was pretty well-done.

For Junji Ito being named the master of Japanese Manga horror, I expected more from this. The illustrations were amazing, but the story telling felt like a middle schooler wrote it. The stories were flat, barely made sense, and felt very immature. They were extremely heavy on suicide and self harm, and the gore and aforementioned situations were the only things that felt "horror" ish. I just didn't love this collection at all, besides appreciating the artwork.

I feel like I'm decently sensitive to horror and I didn't find much of this scary.  More eerie and gross than anything else. The first set of stories were pretty good. It lulled pretty bad in the middle and picked up a bit in the end. An alright read.
