I liked the narration of this short story, but the payoff felt overly embellished, falling a little flat for me.

A short fiction that I read on Tor.com. Reviewing this story proves difficult since I feel that the words on the page mean so much less than the feeling that this story provokes. This story feels more like a poem than a story. It is lyrical and impactful. It doesn't rush to the point but slowly, subtly brings it up. It talks about loss and remembrance, and what that means to people after a war. I found this story to be thought provoking and worth my time but I do not think it is the most powerful story about loss that I have heard.

My rating system
1 - Did not enjoy
2 - Not irredeemable but has too many flaws to say I enjoyed
3 - Enjoyed it
4 - Great book but didn't love it
5 - Amazing book
