While this volume in the beloved series has the same Nick and Charlie content we have come to love, it also dives into some deeper topics. Again, where Charlie is at is so applicable to what teens go through. This gives it words and a stage that make it easy to understand and feel like you're not alone. For me, this volume dropped one stare because I found the journals told us what happened, rather than showing us. I personally felt a show, not tell would have hit the mark better. I still absolutely loved it though.

I don’t really know how to feel about this book…
It is a really powerful story, but it felt a lot more like a self-help book for people with mental illness/their loved ones than an actual novel.
I would have loved if it was executed differently so there was a little more actual story than there was.
