This one really was a slow build for me. Although it was really interesting to have a story of AFTER the war, At first I thought it was boring me, then I found I was actually enjoying it and then the ending was …WOW.

Oh my goodness. I can’t even. So so good. Such an interesting perspective I hadn’t read about before, what happened after the camps were liberated. Such good writing and treatment of post traumatic stress. So good.

I was excited to read this but I found the beginning to be good, the middle to be slow, and the ending to be somewhat faster then the middle. I found the story so interesting. The journey I found was heartbreaking but also gave hope, almost until the very end.

I enjoyed that this book took a different approach than most WWII stories by starting at the end of the war. And while this was an entertaining and enjoyable read, I did feel it was kinda predictable, and there wasn't a ton of depth. I would definitely recommend this for middle school or high school aged readers though. A good historical fiction story that I think they would appreciate much more than me.

This book had the makings and the setting to be really good, but I was greatly disappointed!
