Ever since I read the first Belladonna U collection I was looking forward to this one! I had grown very attached to the characters, the mythology and the endless possibility for adventures and stories. So, when I had the chance to get an ARC of this book, I didn't hesitate and got it right away. I was actually planning on reading this book somewhen during the workweek, on a busy day, but when I finished my other book early this morning I just really wanted to read this one.

And the book doesn't disappoint at all! I read a lot of books since the previous collection, so I needed a few chapters to remember who was who again, but luckily Roberts added a few reminders here and there, without them being too prevalent, to help me. And before I realized it, I was once again sucked into the story and I reconnected with all the characters and their individual stories. Add a nice holiday vibe to it and you have a really enjoyable read.

What I really love about this world, is that Roberts throws us into the situation and lets us witness what's going on. That means that there are no long info-dumps and that there's no unnatural explaining or weird dialogue. This does mean that it sometimes takes a little while to really understand what's going on and what has been happening, but it makes the story, despite its weirdness, all the more realistic. It really feels like I'm there with these characters, like this could be happening somewhere, right now.

And the characters involved are all incredibly awesome. The story is told from a lot of different perspectives and in a lot of different styles. Some people might find that confusing, but I think it works perfectly for this story. It means that we really get to be in the heads of all characters involved. We know their struggles, we know why they do what they do and we get a much broader perspective on everything. It also helps to build some tension and anticipation.

So, after finishing this book I have one very important question: Will there be more???????

Read this sometime in 2020 but failed to mark it down. Re-read it. Loved it!
