Not bad, for a classic. As far as I’m concerned I’m not waging any wars- real or metaphorical. I suppose you could use the ideas and rules in this ‘war guide’ to help yourself in business battles, but you definitely have to modify the descriptions a bit to match your personal situation.
I can see how this book is considered a classic especially with its importance and topic, but to me it felt a little redundant. The translation notes in Apple Books version I read were helpful and I found myself agreeing with the interpretations the author of the notes put forward. Sun Tzu’s points to personally felt slightly redundant or even like he was reiterating common sense, but I imagine that’s from lack of a perfect ability to translate and most likely missing chunks of original text.
All in all, the references to specific wars and the idea of completing a classic made it worth reading. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you feel the same.

Yeah the actual book was Cool the essays and analysis was a deal breaker. Probably more of me not getting It rather than the author doing something wrong.

Don’t know how to rate this because it’s unlike any book I’ve ever read and probably any I’ll read in the future it’s so one of a kind. The reason why I rate it so high is that it was written thousands of years ago and it still holds weight. There are almost no other books you can say that about. It’s easy to read, easy to understand, and so informative!
unironically actually enjoyed reading this lol. warfare tactics that you could technically apply in the modern day (in love, perhaps?). fun read yes yes
