i will remember these eleven women and the foetus. i will keep all the women in my mind, the women who died just like them, while living, while loving their predators. i won't dig to find the tamed from the untamed. a beast always stays a beast.

Poetry is one of those genres I don't feel like should be rated, but this was super compelling and easy for a novice like me to reflect on. Gatwood does an excellent job of capturing the latent fear female presenting people constant have of men and their capacity for violence, as well as our culture's fascination with it through the true crime content. Also, I had no idea she was the poet of the "Ode to My Bitch Face", which is a favorite of mine.

As a true crime lover, I was instantly drawn in by the introduction of this book. The poems are beautiful and raw and I wish I had read this book last year while I was in poetry workshop. There is so much to think about and discuss with this book. Thank you, Molly for letting me borrow it! Although if I’m being completely honest I don’t want to give it back

wow. olivia gatwood so skillfully connects her early experiences, our modern-day obsession with true crime, and the fears of women across the board. throughout her collection of poems, she gives gentle but firm notice to the role race plays in real women’s outcomes. and with grace, she dances around how simultaneously rational and irrational women’s fears can often be. I felt both held and challenged by the end of the book.
