Great book, been re-reading it almost every year for the past 10 years. Recommend it for older teens (14+) and young adults.

reread this after nearly 11 yrs and wow...what a trip still. serious props to collins bc the hunger games remains an engrossing, nail-biting, tightly plotted read.

maybe time did its thing but i def have more appreciation for the book this time around: it's quite funny in moments through katniss's dry narrative voice; the worldbuilding - though its big scope isnt overly detailed - is gripping; and - speaking as a previous hater - i actually rly like peeta now?? this boy is refreshingly non-toxic and his dynamic w/ katniss is actually so interesting w/ its flipping of traditional roles and tropes, him being the damsel and her being the hero(ine). my early teenaged mind def wasnt mature enough to appreciate that.

glad i picked this up and managed to blast through it in a day.
