I watched the movies before reading the books and I can’t say it didn’t influence my reading experience. I definitely would have enjoyed it much more if I hadn’t known the story, but it was still very entertaining and I got through this first book in a couple evenings. Despite me knowing the major plot points, the story still had me hooked and it was interesting to see Katniss’ thoughts.
It’s a really solid book, one that has undeniably influenced many aspects of our 21st century media. Personally, I thought this was great, but I’m not obsessed with it like I might have been if teenage me had read this going in completely blind.

There was a lot more nuance to the characters and the worldbuilding than I remembered, and the social justice element was really evident - maybe even a bit too much at times but hey, it still works considering it's a YA novel. I'll continue my re-read with the next book in the series, which I'm even more curious to revisit since I remember very little about it.

MY THOUGHTS:
I frequently ponder Suzanne Collins' mindset and the creative process behind envisioning a story set in a world where children are compelled to battle each other to the death.
It makes me reflect on my own moral judgment, considering how much I enjoyed every moment of reading it. Given the current state of society, I sometimes wonder if such a scenario may not be so far-fetched.
I devoured this book quickly and found it consistently engaging. I eagerly anticipated picking up the rest of the series to keep reading.
