Quick read of two people, Sophie & Xander, that got together to save their business and at the end fell in love. Her uncle was a world class prick and insulted Sophie every chance he got. These two thought they were only getting involved to save their business but secretly they always had a crush on each other. This a sweet book.

I really enjoyed Sophie and Xander. Certain books I’ve read with the marriage of convenience trope leave a lot of be desired. But this author did it so well, it may have been a rushed marriage but it didn’t feel cheesy or over the top. This was a quite a steamy read and it had some really fun banter between the characters. Xander was the perfect mix of alpha and sweet. Sophie was strong and maybe a bit stubborn. This story might have been steamy but it also had some heartfelt moments (like with Sophie’s grandma!). I enjoyed their story. Every time I think I have a favorite couple in this series, another book came out and now it’s just a 4-way tie at this point.

Xander is working hard on his comeback in the Mixed Martial Artist scene after a career threatening injury. He has no time for women or a relationship until he is confronted with an eviction notice for his gym. To prevent himself from losing his gym he teams up with Sophie who owns a bakery across the way. The business person who wants to buy them out is none other than Sophie's evil Uncle. Xander and Sophie decide to do a marriage of convenience so they won't lose their businesses. At first they try to keep things strictly professional but they can't fight the attraction they have towards each other. I loved how strong and sassy Sophie was and how she was able to hold her own when it came to Xander. Xander was a total sweetheart despite his attempts to act like he doesn't care. He displayed some tender moments throughout the story. I did enjoy the story but it was a little predictable for me and I had a feeling where the storyline was heading before the book was over. Overall, I did enjoy the story and will definitely be checking out the other books.

What I really like about this series is that each story and all the characters are different and distinct. I didn’t ever feel like I was reading the same thing over and over again. This is a unique plot although a bit predictable. There was just enough sweet and sexy to make it a quick, great read.

Sophie and Xander have been dancing around each other for a while trying to fight their attraction. And they even fight it after their shotgun wedding. Xander is the very definition of alpha male. His fighter’s body and British accent are more than Sophie can refuse. He is sweet and swoon-worthy and I love that he treats Sophie with respect. Sophie is strong, stubborn and has been hurt in the past so she is trying to protect herself from it again. Their banter is entertaining and they are pretty perfect for each other.

I loved seeing everyone from the previous books. They all just work well together; loved Grams too! I’m sad to see the end of the series and definitely recommend every book in it!

I loved this series and this was a fun addition. No real different here but the writing is strong and the story was enjoyable.

4.25☆

I've never given a book 4.25☆ before but I felt this one deserved it. As it was such a quick, easy, enjoyable, entertaining and engaging read. That had very little in the way of angst, plenty of fun and flirty banter. Plus a few hot moments too.

As for Xander and Sophie, I loved them both. They shared so much chemistry and worked well as a couple and I was really rooting for them to get their hea.

And for me Sweet Victory really did have a bit of everything I love in these type of stories. It was sweet, fun, hot and filled with some seriously sexy fighters. I would therefore happily recommend it to others. Even those of you who haven't read the previous books in this series.

3.5-4 stars

This is the second of Gina L. Maxwell's Fighting for Love books I've read, and it's very good. The main characters are fun and real, and the subplot with Sophie's grandmother forgetting her due to dementia is heartbreakingly true and authentic. Admittedly, the rest of the book was rather trope-y (I could see Sophie's evil uncle twirling and imaginary mustache), it's still a lot of fun to read, and brings together the characters from all four novels in the series in a satisfying ending.

I loved all four books in this series and waited patiently for the final chapter. Xander and Sophie were both completely likable and I loved reading their story. The epilogue was a bit cheesy but it was great having all the characters together for the end.

I recommend this book and this series.
