I really enjoyed this story and that it was something new. It's been awhile since I read a book and didn't catch myself rolling my eyes at a similarity to Twilight. My favorite thing in a book is a good, unexpected twist. Everneath delivers that! Hoping there is a second book because this story seems far from being over!

I loved this book! I put off reading it for so long and I'm super mad at myself for it!

At first I was completely confused thinking surely there was a book before this one but no the story just starts off after a century in the Everneath which turns out to be six months on the surface (Earth). Needless to say there is some catching up that has to take place and while that can be a slow process in this case it wasn't. I was instantly hooked from chapter one and couldn't stop until the end and now I'm counting down the days till the next installment shows up on my doorstep. Nikki is such a strong and selfless main character, I was dying for her to tell Jack EVERYTHING. While I normally don't like love triangles this one wasn't too bad because I could sense the substance between Jack and Nikki whereas with Cole it was obvious he's a slimeball who's suffering from puppy love. Team Jack all the way!!

This was a super fast, suck you in, can't catch your breath read. I'm super anxious to start the next book!! Why couldn't I have predicted my love for this book and just buy the whole series?!

LOVED IT!
I know there are a few more out there, but this is the first book I've read based on mythology. Which is kinda odd because I really love mythology. I got Everneath because I knew it was based on the myth of Persephone and Hades, which is my favorite story.
To be honest I didn't expect the book to turn out like this. It was way better than I thought it would be. I liked how we also got to know the events of the last year that led up to Nikki going to the Everneath with Cole. And every chapter counted down to when she needs to go back, which brings some extra suspense. Time ticking away for Nikki.
Nikki, Jack and Cole were the most important characters. I liked them. At first I wasn't particulary fond of Jack but that changed quickly. He's so protective about Nikki that you can't help but love him. But I do like Cole more. I'm one of the few who do. I always like the bad ones. But I don't believe he's really bad! Nikki was at first a little emotionless and closed up because she just got back from the Everneath but as time passed that went away. I can't really say anything about the other less important characters because they didn't stand out to me. I do like how Jack's brother, Will, helped Jack and Nikki at the end.
The book had a kind of dark atmosphere (duh Everneath, underworld and all that.) and I really like that. The ending was heartbreaking to me. I was almost crying. But I liked how they figured a lot out at the end and then of course... cliffhanger. What other would I expect? *sigh* I really can't wait until the sequel!
The whole book is very enticing. I kept wanting to keep reading to find out more about the Everneath and the characters.
Recommended to everyone who loves the genre.

And don't you just love that cover? It's gorgeous!

OMG. NO. NO WAY.

AWWWWWWWWWWW...... that's sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. Seriously, when will us girls ever find a boy like THAT? Probably never. OMG, who has a copy of the next book!!!!???

*runs off in search of the next book*

First of all, I was super disappointed to see, after I had already started reading this book, that it is not a stand-alone book. This is a very slow moving book. Until you get to the last like 2 chapters - of course. The story was not really what I was expecting - and while I usually am happy that I can't predict what's going to happen in a book - this time it felt like I went to a movie expecting to see a romance and instead was forced to watch a boring documentary. This story had great potential and unfortunately it just fell flat. I did not like any of the characters. I don't think I'll be reading the next one.

Nikki vanishes one Spring and no one can figure out where she went. Upon her return to earth, Nikki finds her time is limited. She spent her time in the Everneath (underworld) where she must soon return. There is no way out so she instead she uses her time to attempt to rekindle her relationships with her family and boyfriend. But when Cole shows up, the person who originally brought her to the Everneath, and states his love for her can save her, will she give in to him?
The novel was an interesting take on the Persephone story. I did have a few problems with the story: I found the characters to be a bit immature and a lot of questions still on my mind. I felt that Nikki's time in the Everneath was an interesting idea, although I would've loved for Ashton to go more in depth with that. I felt that Jack was sort of empty as a character - you don't really see much of who he is until the end when he finally breaks free from his shell and decides to pretty much sacrifice himself. Even though I did have some problems, I enjoyed the book overall and found Cole to play the role of the sinister love-struck villain quite well.
medium-paced

OH MY GOD!! I took so long to finish this book that doesn't mean I didn't like this book. In fact I loved it so much that I didn't want to finish it very soon. This book was captivating from start to the end.
The book began with Nikki waking up in underworld called Everneath. She has been given 6 months to come back to her old life and after that the tunnels would come to take her. She was supposed to forget her memories of her human life but she remembers one person whom she loved .Cole who took her there offers her two options to become his queen or be sucked back to tunnels. Nikki id determined to come back and correct all things what she did before going back. Her relationship Jack who was sexy, sweet and most understanding boyfriend I have ever met. They had a bad ending before she was sucked inside underworld so now she wants to improve their relationship if they can't be together at least to say good bye and most important her relationship with her father.

The book is captivating I tell you. Niks is strong and don't want an easy way out. She doesn't lose her resolve . she tries to mend her relationship with everyone and its so sweet. I loved her from starting. there is so many questions why she survived, what was in her that Cole liked....

Cole ...hmmm about him i have no idea what to say. He looks good and seems to love her. but still he the villian here .

I enjoyed the mythology, especially the story about Hades & Persephone, Orpheus & Eurydice. Definitely looking forward to reading Everbound.

i give this a 3/5. i love anything to do with the underworld and especially Persephone and Hades. which this book was a little bit about them. It took me a good few chapters in to understand what was going on in the book, and im not a big fan of that i wish the book kinda explained what was going on instead of making the reader figure it out. especially with a fantasy, type of book sense they can be anything. But after i realized what was going on i really liked this book and read it in 2 nights. i liked the main character nikki and felt she got alot strong by the end of the book as a character, but i also feel like her character in the beginning of the book fit her very well after learning her back story. i would of liked to know more about what happens in that 100 years in the underworld to understand her better, but that wasnt talked about much but i feel like that would give us a better grasp.(and maybe it is talked about more in the next books).
The other thing about this book i struggled with was cole . i liked him so much more than i liked jack and was rooting for him the whole time. i didnt really feel like he was a bad guy, and wanted to know more of his story. i feel like nikki went to him willing and he just did what she asked and didnt deserve all the hate he got from her, when he just wanted her to have a better life i found. all and all 3/5, and i would read the next book in the series

Really enjoyed this book.
