Sweet, fluffy, and full of character cameos. A strong and delightful follow-up to the original.

I know this book is meant for middle schoolers, but its for the nostalgia!!

It was a very easy read, and I still love what Wendy Mass did with her characters and POVs--each part only had one character's pov and there were things that they (and I) didn't understand, but the other characters' pov made the small details make sense (like the lollipop sticks and $50 bill), which made it super fun to read. The whole "who's your x family member" thing was sort of interesting, but having it for 3 out of 4 main characters was kind of a lot. I was hoping for Daisy and Miles or Miles and Logan to be related in some way.

The road trip itself was pretty fun and the end result of their treasure hunt was unexpected but I liked it. Overall would highly recommend to middle school or early high school readers!

Logan, Miles, Daisy, and Phillip, four very different kids with very different backgrounds, embark on a road trip together. Along the way they learn about a 50 year old secret and must trust each other, and themselves, to face what lies ahead.

Y’all, this book rocked. I read the original Candymakers book when I was a kid and I loved it. When I found out a sequel had come out I got it from the library right away. This book is full of fun, magic, mystery, and characters that are multi faceted and relatable. Part coming of age story, part epic mystery, this book is intriguing until the very end.

Reading this book felt for me like all the sweetness of candy and all the warmth of a hug from an old friend and it filled me with such joy and memories of childhood.

I definitely recommend this book (and it’s predecessor) to anyone who wants a fun, fast paced read, and I definitely recommend to anyone who teaches or knows a middle grade aged kid, this book really is one of the best in the genre.

nowhere near as good as the first one — probably because it was lacking the nostalgia factor — but still super fun and heartwarming! had to remind myself it was a kid’s book a few times when i was getting impatient but otherwise thouroughly enjoyed it.

Woooo! She did it again! These stories are soooooo good. And it sounds like this ending left it open for more? Please please please? From road trips in the coolest spy RV EVER, to chocolate, to barking cats, and a bunch of family mysteries to solve - this book is packed with adventures, bizarre disguises and friendships growing stronger! Love love love!

I liked it, but not as much as the first one. The style of storytelling from so many point of views, followed by the road trip, felt a bit too long for me - even with characters I know I love. Physically, it was so big and the print so small that this old bird had a really hard time wrangling it one handed while nursing. The end of the second half was fantastic, with some clever misdirects. Also, did I catch a set up for a third?
