Thoroughly enjoyed, the only downside of this read is the insulting terminology used for women as birthing people to be more inclusive which I do not agree with.

My step-dad bought this for me so I felt obligated to read it, and I'm very glad I did because 1) it's great and 2) it got me back into reading non-fiction.
Covering the field of gynecology from its deeply misogynistic history (some of it shockingly recent) to a vision of its future, both exciting and dystopian (depending on what research gets funded), and filled with deeply moving personal stories, this book taught me more about how my own body works than I ever learned in health class or in 27 years of having a uterus.
I will be recommending it to everyone I know who has even a tangential connection to women's health.
