I absolutely loved it. What a beautiful retelling of the myth. So many details!

Again Madeline Miller manages to write a beautiful book. I genuinely love this. Idk what to say. It’s just so beautiful. I do recommend checking tw before reading it though cause it gets rough. The ending is amazing. I only wish (minor spoiler) Odysseus was not who he turned out to be

Sofia, if you're reading this please infodump to me about how close it matches the myth. Just as enchanting as SoA, but it felt more familiar, more intimate. Something about a woman, even a divine one, making her way and building her home and herself is always going to resonate with me. I think Penelope got a pretty sweet deal, I would also like to be given a beautiful island home and a pride of tame lions.

I missed when this was massively trending back during covid but as much as it wasn’t an all time favourite I can admit the hype was for a reason.

This tale follows the tale of Circe and essentially the stories of her life and the people she meets.  Which is shockingly a lot considering early in the book she gets herself exiled for life to an island.

Weirdly poetic at times it had some beautiful quotes.

Fantasy is not my favorite genre, but I enjoyed revisiting my college Greek Mythology classes via this story.
