Great play. I found that some of the long tirades are sometimes quite difficult to read (especially at the end, between Créon and Antigone) because some sentences are meaningless or repetitive and unnecessarily dramatic. However, I liked the symbolism throughout and I’d recommend it.
okay so in comparison to the original by sophocles, this version of Antigones story makes it all the more heartbreaking as we learn she really does have no reason to die, yet is fully dedicated to the idea that she must. However, her character in this does elicit less sympathy, personally, as she listens to Creon and then demands to be happy now and, if not, reiterates the fact she will die. This re-telling also makes Creon a much more sympathetic character as he begs Antigone to let him save her but fails, as he did with her parents.
The removal of the prophet and any divine reasons Antigone has for burying her brother is also an interesting choice, due to how deeply interwoven it was in the original. In some ways it allows us to focus more on the idea about family vs policy, and makes more sense within the modern setting. In others, it makes Antigone appear as though she is just a crazed woman with no real reason to act against the law.
Anyways end of the day it was a but of fun

Incroyable.
