I like Aury, but I'm not really fond of Ghost. And this one ends on a cliffhanger. Not my favorite of her books, but it's not a bad story.

I blame Lily Mayne for my lack of productivity the past few days because my mind is completely occupied by these adorable monsters. I just love the world they’ve built and the lovely creatures that inhabit it. I can’t wait to finish the rest of the series.

Monstrous book 3
🐓’s and 🐓 Man
Mental health rep
Dystopian

Soul Eater was okay (becomes better as I read more of this series), Edin was pretty alright, The Rycke was great. The humans in this series are really the heavy hitters for me. They are all wonderful and Ghost/Gage is no exception.

He has some massive things going for him:
  • He has chickens
  • He is not an indiscriminate monster hater
  • He is an avid reader
  • He carries a gun without bullets

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t hesitant about the next book in the series (Gloam) as it’s set up pretty apparently in this book. But I’m continually surprised and more than willing to give it a shot.

The Rycke was a very good introduction to this world outside of the Military. I have been curious about the Wastes and those who choose or are forced to live out there in such dangerous conditions. Ghost was a very good narrator for this introduction and I honestly felt a lot of connection to him and his need to prove himself useful out of fear of rejection. There are a lot of characters introduced but it doesn't feel overwhelming. It's like we know just enough about the characters to understand their importance and not enough to keep us interested in their development. Aury is the sweetest little muffin cake to have ever lived and I absolutely adored how his character was played out...especially considering how horrifying he was described in the previous books....I didn't expect him to be a literally marshmallow but I AM NOT COMPLAINING! uwu I very much enjoyed this installment and the final chapters had my heart strings tugged in so many directions, but it was all worth it! <3
