Aury is a sweet cinnamon roll and no one can tell me otherwise. I just wanted to bubble wrap him and give him endless hugs. Ghost/Gage was just fine, he's probably been the least favourite of the main characters that have been introduced in the first 3 books. He was good, but when compared to Danny or Edin he was a bit bland. Still good, just a bit boring (although I did empathize with his anxiety, me too, sweetie, me too.) I also loved when
Spoiler Gage stuck with Aury even after he'd seen what the Rycke could do once provoked.

Does Mary remind anyone else of Delores Umbridge or is it just me? I hate her so much.

Besides Mary's proper introduction, which was awful and intriguing, and the shit that happened at around the ~70% mark (ish - I wasn't quite keeping track), I found the plot to be slower. I thought after Edin and Hunter's story that we would continue to get more involved in the world and see more exciting things happen, but it almost felt like we'd hopped back to book one where we were getting everything introduced to us again. Which, I guess, fair. Considering that this is our first real introduction to the Raiders and their way of living out in the Wastes. I'm interested to see how Rig's story progresses the plot line (although tbh I wasn't overly whelmed by Rig one way or another - I now can't wait until Moth's story though. Adore him already!)

On to Wyn and Danny's novella! I can't get enough of those two!

Aury is ADORABLE!! (minus the obvious)

I really connected with this book. Compared to Soul Eater and Edin, I really loved the dynamic of these two characters, they were just so soft an sweet (and the I Love you's that happened at lightning speed). Usually The "I love you" is the relieved sigh at the end of the book and sometimes what a book naturally works towards, but Lily did a great job on expounding on their relationship and their journey after that.

So far, Aury is really the physical epitome of the "Monstrous" aspect of the series (his original form of course) and from Wyn and Edin's perception we are told that he is a dangerous monster. However, in this book we get to actually experience Aury for ourselves and make our own conclusion.

I really went into this series blind and I am not disappointed at all!!

This dangerous monster was a little baby that I wanted to hug and protect.
That's it.
