Wicked Promises ARC Review💛

Well
now I want to reread the entire series in one seating đŸ« đŸ«

This is Margo and Caleb’s final book and we finally get to learn who Unknown is and why he/she is stalking Margo.

After reading what Margo has gone through in the first two books, I wouldn’t have blamed her if she thought Caleb was Unknown
Aside from the fact that her  memories were slowly coming back, she was learning the truth about what really happened the night her father got arrested. At some point, I thought Margo had lost it and she was borderline insane by what she was thinking 😂 like I can’t blame her but her thoughts went wild when she was alone. I’m glad she was able to find peace within herself and uncover who Unknown really was. Caleb was her rock, who kept her sane through everything that was going on.

Their relationship was like a rollercoaster of emotions. Loving each other to the point of wanting to hurt each other out of hate and misinformation.

I can’t wait to read the rest of the books, specially Riley’s book with Eli.

Holy finishes!! I've been trying to piece this whole thing together, and while I was suprised, part of me kept saying throughout the whole two books that something just ain't right with that person, something was always fishy with them... and BOOM!! What an amazing trilogy.

Wicked Promises is the conclusion to Caleb & Margo’s story. We’ve watched their relationship throughout the first two books ebb and flow and develop and grow.. and now, secrets are out, the past has been revealed and we’re left wondering throughout the book- can they get through this?

We finally find out who Unknown is, though if you’re good at figuring things out, you may have already done so (not me, my brain doesn’t work like that
) and the plot surrounding Caleb’s father’s death gets even more twisted than we originally thought. Margo finally busts out of that little sheep nickname Caleb was trying to make happen in the first book and develops into a stronger FMC.

I never read the original version of this series, so this was all new to me. I was hesitant about it being set in high school, but I quickly forgot that it was high school with all the mystery plot going on. I was hooked. The first two books end with cliffhangers. They were absolute killer.

Margo and Caleb were childhood friends until everything fell apart. Margo is put into the foster system and moved away for the majority of her childhood. Everything changes when she is taken in by a family that will send her back to her former school. She is reintroduced to the people she used to know and has a rude awakening to her past.

Caleb worms his way back into her life, but not in the conventional way. He bullies her relentlessly until she gives in to him. The toxicity in this relationship is addicting (I know I have a problem). But by the third book, Caleb accepts that he doesn’t hate Margo. By the end, their relationship is stable and without all the toxicity.

Both Caleb and Margo are deeply troubled and carry all sorts of trauma with them. They both go through a healing process through the three books. They grow and mature in such a short time.

Robert and Lenora, Margo’s foster parents, are unforgettable characters. Robert melts my heart on many occasions. They care so much and love with their whole hearts.

This series has so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. The “WTF” factor was real. This series is available on KU. If you like S. Massery or romantic suspense, RUN to read this book.

Quotes:
"She really is like a lost lamb, standing waiting for a predator to devour her. Me. I'm her biggest predator."

“You think I need to look at you to paint you, love? You’ve been ingrained on my brain since the beginning.”

A fierce emotion goes through me—one that I’m not particularly familiar with—and it unnerves me. She’s dug her way under my skin, buried herself in my bones.

Hearts heal. Scars fade. Memories of the past
they don’t last very long either. If you love him, love him with everything you have, and I promise it’ll be worth it.”

“She responds well to my darkness. It makes me think that maybe I succeeded in my mission to make our edges align.”

S.Massery detonated a bomb full of lies, betrayal and secrets. This is a one more chapter type of book.

Margo and Caleb finally realize they need to work together. The past keeps presenting itself to them and new secrets bring new developments.  Caleb started to find out what forces were behind his father’s death. Margo starts to remember the parts of her past that she blocked. Every twist they encountered brought them closer together and every secret opens a new door.

This re-release was epic! What an ending to a fantastic series! The twist and turns were mind blowing. Margo is no longer the timid girl from book 1 and Caleb(hard as stone) becomes so protective in such an adorable way. These two soulmates get put through the wringer trying to get the answers they needed. Sara the Queen of edging really makes really makes use of her talent in this book. Have a seat and enjoy the ride wild ride. This series is a must read.

Tropes: dark bully romance, hockey, high school, childhood sweethearts, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, revenge, found family, foster rep.

Thank so much Sara for the ARC!
