Tomboy is about a struggle a lot of girls who don't fit the hyper feminine goals that are expected of us by our parents and communities. I really like that Liz showed her growth and deepened her descriptions of her frustration until her revelation in the zine library. I also really enjoyed the epilogue as someone who occasionally has people assumed I'm a boy.

This is a beautiful and gritty reflection on what it really means to grow up as a girl. I’ve read this many times, and each time I love following Liz’s story and the honesty of friends who drop in and out of your life, the pressure of romantic relationships, and the pressure to fit the mold. This is poetic and strong at the same time, reflecting the dual identities Liz feels throughout the book.

I enjoyed this book. It was great seeing how Liz represented her past experiences with gender dysphoria and finding comfort in being herself. It's not easy living your truth when the world wants you to act a certain way according to what's between your legs.

📚 The gist 📚: Liz examines her experiences with gender-nonconformity, starting in her early childhood. She always identified with being masculine, but the world kept pushing femininity on her.

📒Representation📒 gender non-conforming, masculine girl

💕 For readers looking for 💕: fender-nonconformity experiences, a heartfelt memoir, nonfiction graphic novels, humor
