Didn't love this one but it wasn't terrible. Cute story about friendship and a bit of mystery.

A heartfelt read entailing friendships, relationships, and mother/daughter relationships. The book goes back and forth between past and present for two young girls but also weaves in a storyline for another character from the book. This was confusing until about 3/4 of the way through when I figured out who the other storyline included. However, that didn’t ruin anything because many more secrets were left to figure out in the last 1/4 of the book! All in all, glad I read this book.

3.5 stars, rounded up. I loved the characters. This was a good summer read. Juicy but not *too* light. Not sure I recommend the audiobook version, the narrator wasn’t my favorite.

As mentioned in other reviews this looks like a summer breezy read. But the tone is definitely heavier than implied.

Two friends reunite after almost twenty years of being estranged to do a scavenger hunt. In flashbacks we see how their friendship bloomed over the summers. There is also a third story line told during the summer and a scavenger hunt that is much darker.

It was an interesting enough read to make me finish it, but not enough to recommend it nor remember it in the future.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. Flipping between three timelines is a little tedious. Sometimes the foreshadowing was annoying and I just wanted to know why something was important without it being drawn out for 100 pages. It was fairly easy to guess what the big reveal was going to be. It was also another story where actually talking would have saved 15 years of hurt.

CRYING! That was a heart-wrencher at the end. What an absolutely awful way to start my day by finishing this book. What a beautiful story that touches on so many important topics… substance misuse, SA, stigma and discrimination, homophobia. Would recommend!
