I listened to this at 1,2x speed and still found it a bit slow paced at times, some parts definitely could have been shortened. That said, I really enjoyed it. It was an interesting crime story plot set in an interesting world building most of the times one lacks because of the others. It was masterfully done that there was no boring explanation of the world and I still understood most of it. The reading and voices were also very entertaining. 
Would definitely read/ listen to a second one.

I listened to this as an audiobook. I hadn't listened to (or read) a political whodunnit in a fantasy setting, I think. I enjoyed it. There were different layers of mystery. One still unsolved: What are the Leviathans. I have a suspicion. I don't feel terribly eager to read the second book, though.
