This was a wonderful story about loss, gain, friendship and family love! Most assuredly worth reading with your child. The love a child can have for a favorite toy and what happens when it is gone. Be warned, your child may be a bit sad for awhile but be sure to finish to the end! Very much worth a family or bedtime read!

Shirley Hughes was one of my favourite author-illustrators when I was a child, and her books still have a magic effect on me as an adult. This is a truly touching tale of a boy's love for a stuffed toy, but more importantly, a big sister's selfless love for her younger brother. It makes me nostalgic for my childhood and all the times I defended and supported my own little brother.

I must have read this book aloud to my boys hundreds of times. The illustrations are priceless! The family is British, charming, their home is sweet and a bit cluttered. The story is about a boy who loses his favorite toy, Dogger. The whole family rallies around to find him and in the end his big sister Bella comes to the rescue.

A 1001 CBYMRBYGU. Dave mislays his old stuffed dog, but Dogger somehow finds his way back home. The story is lovely and the pictures are charming. I cannot imagine even a curmudgeon curmudgeonly enough to dislike this story.

Brilliant children's book - can't wait to use this with KS1/Early Years pupils. Great links for developing empathy!
