This Book was really hard for me to get in to at the start, which caused me to put it down and leave it alone for months. With the goal of finishing it so I could trade it in for credit at my local book store, I powered through the slow beginning and it got a lot easer to just keep reading. In saying that there were some things I liked about this book, and a lot of things I really did not like. I loved that Leah was a bad ass drummer, plus sized Bi girl that was 100% herself but what got old real fast was how much of an asshole she is with her stupid attitude. This may be due to the fact that I am 28 and high school and teen bullshit is so un relatable to me but the high school is ending omg College story was just so boring to me. I also really felt that they kept relying on your love of Simon from the first book as they just insert him so often in random situations it’s like it’s for you to remember it’s part of the same group of his friends. If I had to go back and chose to read this again I would not, but it gets points for LGBTQ+ representation and having a main character girl that is not cookie cutter.

I’ve had 3 years to think on this and tbh I think I originally rated this so wrong. I was at a hype of Becky albertalli but thinking it over this book wasn’t all that good. Leah was incredibly rude and I just wanted to hit her over the head with a 900 page book to knock some manners into her. Also I didn’t buy into the relationship of Leah and Abby. It felt forced and naive. There was no chemistry.

I kind of liked this but also didn't. 3 stars, because even with my problems I did enjoy it probably more than others. I had lower expectations because of GR friends reviews but while I understand their issues with it, I did not hate it this book.

It was warm and fluffy. I probably would've liked this book better had it not been a sequel to it. Cause some of the characters suddenly just flipped. Like there was no clue to Abby and Leah's bisexuality in that book. Wouldn't Simon of all people have said something doubting their straightness.
I'm confused about Leah, she's sarcastic sometimes which is cool. But sometimes she's literally being a bitch for no reason. She has the coolest mom ever and she giver shit for no reason. Not cool. Not cool. But I understand how she's self conscious about her art and coming out even though her friends most definitely would accept her, sometimes you just are.
The Romance. Had I not read Simon Vs I probably would've liked it alot more. Cause while I could feel the attractive tension between Leah and Abby, I just couldn't picture this. I feel like Leah should've had some other love interest, just didn't feel right with Abby.
The best thing about it was those friends. I missed them. Bram is just so adorable love him to bits, I feel like we didn't get much of him in last book, so I loved it. I felt sorry for Garret, poor guy. Nick's one of those characters that I think just flipped, I found him so different.

Also in the end when Simon sees them together he's not worried, that guy is legit constantly worried about friendship dynamics but now his best friend is with his other's best friend's ex and he's happy?I'm confused about Leah, she's sarcastic sometimes which is cool. Esta novela es el spin off de 'Yo, Simon, Homo Sapiens' (Con amor, Simon), así que os recomiendo leerla primero. 'Leah a destiempo' es una historia que trata sobre el desarollo del personaje, de cómo Leah se va conociendo a sí misma, así que no esperéis una gran trama. Personalmente, yo disfruto mucho de este tipo de libros.
La narración de Becky Albertalli es fluida y siempre hace que los personajes sean cercanos al lector, lo que hace que sea muy fácil sentirse identificado con sus sentimientos. Además, la autora siempre nos presenta unas relaciones entre personajes muy sanas y nos muestra valores fundamentales que para mí hacen necesarias este tipo de novelas; luchar por lo que uno quiere, no tener miedo a ser y amar.
Si tengo que ponerle una pega para justificar las cuatro estrellas es que el final me resultó un poco abrupto, para mí le faltaron algunas páginas. Aún así, me ha encantado reencontrarme con todos los personajes de Creekwood (sobre todo, con Simon) y conocer la historia de Leah.
Lo recomiendo tanto como a su predecesor. Las novelas de Albertalli siempre son una gran soplo de aire fresco.

Ik keek heel erg uit naar dit boek, vooral na Simon vs, dat nog altijd één van mijn favoriete contemporary teenage romances is. Helaas viel dit boek toch een beetje tegen en ik durf niet te zeggen of dat aan mij of aan het boek ligt. Wellicht ligt het aan ons allebei een beetje.
Allereerst liggen Leah en ik elkaar niet zo. Ik heb absoluut niet het hart op mijn tong liggen, maar de manier waarop Leah met alles omgaat staat zo ver bij mij persoonlijk vandaan en ligt dusdanig in mijn allergie-sfeer dat ik me er eigenlijk vooral aan ergerde. Het grootste deel van het plot van het boek wordt veroorzaakt door Leah's onmogelijkheid om eender wat met eender wie te communiceren. En dat is helaas een van mijn grootste irritaties in dit soort boeken.
Daarnaast vond ik Leah's manier van praten bij vlagen erg plat. Ik weet niet of dat puur door de vertaling komt, of dat dit ook in het Engels zo is, maar het taalgebruik sloot absoluut niet aan bij de manier waarop ik dingen uitspreek of benoem. Het voelde voor mij als bij vlagen erg grof en het woordgebruik weinig creatief. Ik snap dat schelden één van Leah's dingen is, maar het was niet alleen dat. Haar taalgebruik viel bij mij gewoon niet erg lekker.
Ten slotte vond ik het ook jammer dat heel veel relatie-opbouw niet in dit boek gebeurt, maar eigenlijk al eerder gebeurd is. Ik kan me niet meer herinneren of dat in Simon was, maar aangezien het boek als op zichzelf staand wordt gepresenteerd hoef ik daar ook niet naar te kijken. Heel veel dingen die mij interessant geleken hadden, waren al gebeurd voor het begin van dit boek, worden heel summier benoemd of worden uiteindelijk helemaal niet meer beschreven. Persoonlijk vind ik dat jammer. Ik ben een emotie-lezer en juist deze scenes hadden mij emotioneel betrokken kunnen maken bij het verhaal.
Al met al dus voor mij helaas een minder boek. Maar ik ga moedig door naar het volgende!
