I will write a review after I get done pressure washing my mind. It’s pretty filthy right now.

Here we go...

Do you like to be uncomfortable? Not so much your body, but in your mind? Do you like it when you are physically squirming as you read? Are you ever nervous that someone is going to ask you what the book you’re reading is about? Imagine describing in detail the violence and sexual depravity in that book to your mom and have her ask if she could read it when your done? That’s the squirming I’m talking about.
I am not going to go over each story because if you are looking at a splatterpunk book then you want to be grossed out and surprised. You will not be disappointed and I guarantee you will be surprised. These stories are very creative with the twists and how disturbing some of them are.
Kristopher Triana writes with an easy style that submerges you into the story immediately. He is intelligent and he is eloquent. I have a feeling that he was the kid in school that frustrated his teachers because he was “not living up to his potential.” Yeah, maybe, but I can tell you he will surpass all your expectations.

I gotta say, I enjoyed nearly every story in this collection. But Nana’s Secret, Dog Years and We All Scream just blew me away. Can’t wait to read more from this author!

I only read a handful of anthologies/collections last year, and Night Shift was the only one all by the same author. I think we all know short story collections can be a mixed bag, but even though I've only read one book by Kristopher Triana so far, I took the plunge with this collection.

Triana is a twisted author, and seeing how many ideas are bouncing around in his head in a collection like this is as impressive as it is chilling.

None of the stories here could be stretched even into a novella, but he comes at you from just about every conceivable angle by the end, and leaves an indelible mark on your soul.

Certainly not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, but Blood Relations is a satisfying (and emotionally draining) read.

This is an interesting collection of stories themed around family and the bonds you share for better or worse. They were unique and unlike any stories I have read before, ranging from stories about creepy child perpetrators, paedophiles, cosmic horror, dystopian, plastic surgery gone too far and many more.

The stories are quite visceral and many are extreme horror. Some were flat out disgusting but they were creative so I'll give Triana that!

For me my personal favourite was MY NAME IS CHAD where a teenage guy finds out his childhood was a lie. I wanted more from this though and think it would have been great as a longer story.

For those who enjoy messed up horror stories about creepy families, this will be your jam.

A Family Album You Won't Soon Forget!

This is an amazing collection of stories, and there's definitely something in here for every kind of horror lover.
I think that I'm just used to the extreme side of this author. I started reading this book expecting one thing, and now I'm sitting here practically speechless, trying to get the words for the first review. I feel like I've been hit by a bus.
For me, the stand out story here is MY NAME IS CHAD. The writing pulled me in so deeply that I was practically sitting next to the main character. My stomach got upset, my hands started to shake, and I didn't realize I was crying till I wondered why I couldn't see. I still haven't settled down from my initial reading - if that isn't the sign of some outstanding writing, then I don't know what to tell ya!
I'll update this as soon as the story by story review is finished. For now though, I have to find out if I really have read a version of one of these stories stories before. I won't be able to sleep tonight until I figure this out!
