Gotta love books where the main characters are fierce, passionate and mature.
And everyone should love good ol' cowboys like Ethan!

"Whatever it is, I think I'm addicted."

Well, this quote sums it up pretty well. I just couldn't put down this page-turner.
Reckless is my first book by Lex Martin and she totally flashed me with this one.

"I don't care that this thing between us could go wrong in a hundred different ways. I don't care that I could fall way too hard for him."

OMG, I fell hard, harder, hardest. For Tori, for Ethan, for Mila, for Cody, for Logan. All of them are so adorable and easy to love. I had so much fun sharing their path finding love again. Reckless is everything a romance readers heart is begging for. Best go in blind and just let the story guide you.

"It's and eternity setting because that's how long I plan to love you."

Lex has an incredible talent to write her characters so vivid, that they seem to jump right out of the pages into the same room with you. It was so damn easy to picture them, to follow them. I truly wish someone pics up this book and turns it into a movie.

"Once upon a time, I didn't believe in fairy tales. But then I found my prince. And we saved each other."

Reckless is a book that just screams for 5 star ratings. The story is incredible entertaining, the characters are simply amazing and the writing style is captivating. If I had have the time, I would have read it in one sitting.

Reckless reminded me so often of my daughter, at times I should have been scared, but Tori Duran is a headstrong woman who's taken the wrong path a few too many times. Disregarding the advice of loved ones around her, she jumps in feet first letting the flames lick her feet, or more like letting the flames engulf her entire lower half before she reaches for the edge of the frying pan to pull herself back out.

Her pregnant sister needs her help, which also means moving closer, but to do so means finding employment and a place to live. When Tori finds herself a screwed up mess one too many times and unfortunately at the bottom the barrel looking up at her dignity and self-realization she does the unthinkable; taking a live-in nanny job with an insanely hot boss and his two adorable children. This will not be good for her "man diet".

Ethan Carter needed a nanny and he needed help yesterday. He wouldn't admit he needed help, perhaps because deep down he was still hoping his wife would come back. He knew his marriage was over, but what kind of woman walked out on her kids?

Call him cynical, but he didn't have time for dating or women period. He worked from sun up to sun down and when he wasn't working he was on dad duty. So when Tori showed up on his doorstep, his two traitorous children taking instant liking to her, he wasn't exactly on his best behaviour. It was reckless to have such a beautiful woman working for him, but his family left with little choice. At least they were clear on one point. There would be no sex between them. Now if only his body listen to his mind.

Like I mentioned above, Tori reminded me of my own daughter numerous times as I read Reckless.  I loved Tori's spirit and determination to always be true to herself even when she was down and out. My daughter never falters even when things are stacked against her, and like Tori, she also jumps into the fire before looking. A tough, hard-headed learner, someone who forges her own path. Most days I wanted to throttle her, but I also admired her spirit, just from a distance or wishing she was someone else's child on the days when she didn't conform to what I needed her to do. :)

Ethan and Tori are a beautiful yin to each others yang.  When you live reckless you need a rock to ground you when your past comes knocking.

This book was a giant contradiction for me. It was long but also short, and nothing happened but it all happened too quickly. I was expecting this story to start off slowly based on the MCs histories, but they jumped right in to the attraction but I feel like they didn’t actually take the time to get to know each other. We’re told they hang out/watch tv together, but there isn’t much talking to build their relationship or build something other than just the physical side of their relationship. I kept waiting for Ethan’s ex to try something shady but nothing really happened with her until the end, and then everything was all wrapped up too quickly because it happened so late in the book. All that being said, I’m hoping Joey and Logan get their story.

Too short! I liked it a lot, but it felt there were missing some chapters in there to connect things, there were times when everything felt so rushed. but it's Lex's book and I love her books and read them in just hours... Soo...

Something you didn't know about Lex Martin:

- Spiders are not her friends.
- She will incorporate real life in her books.
- She isn't nearly as violent as I would like her to be.
- She seems to have the best parenting advice ever. Seriously, take notes.
- She is very conscious of animals and ways to help them. Save a horse...
- She will make sure you never look at tacos the same way again.
- She will make sure you will never think of happy places again with out snorting out loud and crumbling in a fit of giggles.
- She makes "special holiday memories" epic.
- She will remind you of the innocence of children.
- She has a new word you will attempt to use daily with your friends. It's versatile and very effective at getting the point across.
- She will offer up phrases that may or may not be new but will have an entirely different meaning when she's done. (Think trains...)
- She will teach you the definition of a total badass.
- She will show you family.
- She will get you to believe in fairytales.

I would like to take a moment to swing back to the tacos and laugh my ass off. Just give me a few lines here.

I can't actually prove any of that without you reading Reckless. I will guarantee uncomfortable conversations, awkward as Hell, inappropriate fun. I can promise that without a doubt you will highlight at least 2 of the lines I did to toss at your friends when they read it. (If none of your friends are that cool, PM me, Lex Martin, or hit up Leslie McAdam. She is in the acknowledgements twice. She needs to earn that shit. Lol)

Reckless is tied to Shameless. You do not have to read it first but if you read this review and believe any part of it- believe this. You will enjoy it more knowing the family and dynamics. Reckless is everything you need in a romance. a sassy sweet heroine with a past she'd rather avoid and a gorgeous man she can't seem to...

Reckless is how you will feel reading this book. you will find yourself barreling through the book in hopes to get to that next line so darn much.

Needing to know everything, control everything, and be everything, is killing Ethan.

Life is dragging them both down. Who/what will lift them up?

It's sweet, sexy, and sassy. (There's a steamy scene in a vehicle once or twice that may cause temperatures to rise.) In short, Reckless is everything you need in your life.

1 hot cowboy
2 beautiful kids
3 weeks to fall head over heels
Well, I think it was 3 weeks, it could have been 3 days. I loved this romance. I loved how well this story was developed with all the mistakes, misunderstandings and true to life moments that make up a great romance novel. I highly recommend this book.
