3.5 ⭐️ Took a little longer than normal to get in to this one.
Loved the suspense and mystery, unfortunately I had no idea this was the second book in the series. This was a pretty messed up story but fun to try to figure out who did it.
Un peu difficile à apprivoiser au premier abord, je me suis laissée emporter par l'histoire et sa narration à trois voix, une bonne idée pour ne pas s'ennuyer.
Mention excellente aux derniers chapitres. C'était un régal.

This might be my new favorite author! I just downloaded 5 more books of hers. Her books are so shocking and intriguing!
The novel is told by three narrators : one of the kidnapped victims (the mother), the female PI, and one male sherif investigating the case. In the beginning, the originality of the story being told by the victim (first person narrative) make this crime novel a bit different. But then it wanes pretty quickly and the story is plagued by the killing edge of every investigation-novel : incessant repetitions about what the PI/sherif/onvestigators found about the case. And even without that, the story is unneccessary long : do crime writer know they are not pay by the lines ?
All in all, it is a decent crime story, with decently stupid characters, but it took me a month and an half to finish it for a good reason. It is not as exhilarating as it should be.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I enjoyed seeing a bit of D.D., Phil and Neil in the beginning. The story flowed better than some of the other books I have read by Ms. Gardner. I hope that Tessa and Wyatt will have their own series. I enjoyed their little conversations and I really liked Wyatt. I want to know more about him.
The one problem that I have with the books I have read by Lisa Gardner is that although I don't expect a ton of romance, the romance that happens in the books, you don't really "feel" them. It just kind of happens. I hope that if this is a series that will continue, you will really get a chance to know the characters and see how a relationship develops.

I’m a fast reader and this book took me over 5 weeks to read. Not because it was long, and it wasn’t bad, just predictable and dragged out. Not a favorite
