I did not enjoy this book, it was too weird and out there for me. The second star is for the beautiful artwork & colours.

Brutal. Also strange. The art is gorgeous and the concept interesting, so I think I'll stick around for the next ones too.

I had issues with the visual representations of animals with human physique - hands, feet, clothes ...
It took some time to get used to that.
Story was interesting enough and it really intrigued me.

Nice art, but highly derivative and predictable plot. No character development, cursing for cursing’s sake (“I’m a tough and cool writer.... really! Cursing will prove it! Yeah! Really! Uh huh huh huh”).

This is the second acclaimed graphic novel that I have read this week (the other being the first volume of Fables) and both stink. Either I’ve outgrown comics (finally after 46 years) or comics have gotten worse.

Weird. Interesting. Odd art. Odd writing. And slow starting. Basically animal people with magic and floating cities. And prose chapter intros that are just about unreadable. And the character's mostly cardboard cutouts that we've all seen before. But then the story finally gets started and turns somewhat more intriguing. And the characters slowly begin to come to life. Still feels like it is finding its way, but certainly had possibilities. 3.5 of 5.
