I am really glad I continued on with this series! I loved the 2nd book!

I very much enjoyed the storyline for this one. Troy(24) once a week cleans Erika's (42) pool. Erika is recently divorced after finding her husband of 20 years, in a very comprising position.

Troy has had a crush on Erika for 5 years, but she was married. Troy accidently sees Erika sunbathing topless in her backyard. Erika then goes to find Troy and apologize for what happened. When she finds him, however, he is …enjoying the memory of what he saw.

After that, the two start a passionate relationship despite their 18-year age difference. Along with the age gap, Troy also happens to be Erika's best friends son.

I really enjoyed the secondary plot. Erika is a music talent agent/ song writer. She is at a show one night for one of her clients and discovers that Troy is an extremely talented musician but only does it as a hobby. Erika tells Troy she believes he is good enough to make it and pushes him to audition to front for one of her agencies performers. She even writes him songs. This, however, creates yet another conflict because she can't date one of her clients.

I really liked the spice in this one! Erika knows exactly what she wants after not having it for so many years. Troy is VERY good at taking orders and letting Erika explore her dominate side. He also has no problem taking control.

I thought the 2 characters had great chemistry.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Tim Paige and Tara Langella, and it was great! I wish it was in Duet, but that is my preference. I also thought the characters should have more of a southern accent since it takes place in Nashville.

This was hot, hot hot!!

Went into this blind and was not disappointed. The spice was HOTT & I really enjoyed how Erika found a younger man who treated her right & worshipped her. You know what, hell yeah?!

This has a good mix of spice & plot. Really enjoyed the songwriting aspect of this and wished we could have heard Power or Reckless songs

Audiobook 🎧

Every book I’ve read in the Nashville Neighborhood series has been just so wonderful! When I saw The Pool Boy audiobook was available through my library app, I jumped on it.

THOUGHTS 💭
💦I love a good forbidden romance and this reverse age gap / best friend’s son romance was 🥵🥵🥵.
💦 Troy is eager to please and half in love with Erika when they stumble into a situation that could have been awkward, but was hot as sin.
💦 She’s recently divorced and is going through a s3xual awakening; there’s a delicious kind of guilt that this awakening happens with her best friend’s son.
💦 I love that these two don’t just connect because of their insane chemistry; they also both love and play music.
💦 PHEW these audiobook narrators took us on a S P I C Y journey and I hung on every murmured, groaning, incredible word.

I didn’t like this as much as the first one but still liked it still an age gape which is a fav of mine. I wish more happened regarding the ex or his mom in regards to plot with them but him just constantly calling and then showing up and then acting petty it felt unfinished and the mom just flipped out and then said shitty things about Jenna and really Troy she was always discouraging just so she can be like ok he is good but I don’t care if you love him I can’t accept it .

3.75 Hot and heavy stars

Hypocritical and slightly age-ist as it is, I’m not always a fan of the older woman younger man, or often disdainfully referred to as the reverse age gap trope, especially when it’s some version of rich cougar with hot young poor boy, but this book was a most pleasant surprise. It is a spin on the rich successful woman/not so rich young guy situation, but pulls the fun aspects of it while getting rid of the distasteful connotations, and makes it a celebration of a woman owning her sexuality after being screwed over in her marriage.

Troy and Erika’s relationship is sweet, steamy, with just the right touch of forbidden, and the backdrop of Troy’s fledgling musical career and the Nashville music scene makes this is a very entertaining read. I was a little thrown at the beginning by the excessive awkward descriptions of first Erika and then Troy’s gym routines and it sort of makes sense once you know what Troy works as, but I like my fantasy of people’s magically sculpted bodies and don’t need detailed accounts of how someone spent 500 hours in the gym to be so ripped. Idk what I’m trying to say, it didn’t hurt my enjoyment of the book, just something that niggled. Although I did like the non shamey plastic surgery rep.
