I bloody adored Pythen it ticked every one of my boxes and more.
I happen to have a very weird affliction for aliens that actually look and act like aliens and the Dahk: Extra-terrestrials that are almost bat-like in their overall appearance certainly are very different to humans.

But what aided my enjoyment here was the pure humorous dialogue and situations that we were faced with.
This truly was hilarious in places: making me giggle immensely.
On top of that, the running storyline also managed to grab and retain my attention this was in my opinion really well done and I devoured every word.

This really is a love across the species romance and combined with An alien invasion from a different hostile alien race this was amped up almost from the beginning.
I adored both Peyton and Tahk though did find her a tad unreasonable near the end when Tahk was really just doing his duty and following orders.
Tahk I absolutely loved he had such strong and honourable ideals without losing one iota of his masculinity and he was also so bloody sexy.

So yeah safe to say this is one of the better alien romances and I am so looking forward to the next in this series which is a continuation of this.
If you like proper aliens and not ones that just look human then this is one for you fabulous.
All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Cover:
could have been better

Trigger:
Forced sex

Short review:

After digesting initial unsetting thoughts on (see the trigger above), the story is picked up nicely in the middle. I thought that until instead of heading towards a certain predictable happy ending, the author decided to throw a twist and we have to read #2 to get the complete story of Peyton and Tahk. At this point, I don't care about the love story however I want to know what is happening on Earth with Vitat alien invasion and that is saying something because that's not why you pick up alien smut in the first place! anyhoo there is something to look forward to if I decide to pick up #2 one.

Maybe, if you like alien military stuff and okay with a cliffhanger.

Aftermath: (possible spoilers)
There is a certain charm to this book, I would not lie. I mean there are some LOL moments with initial communication attempts and Tahk team hearing Peyton's livestock incidents but apart from that, the book is dark what with an alien invasion and resultant death and destruction of the human species in general.

Secondary characters are also interesting and I want to know what happens to them so kudos to the author for creating added mystery with supporting crew.

It's okay.
I liked book 2 more.
Bit violent when the aliens start the confrontation with earth.
Mating connection.
No cheating.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Hero is devoted to the heroine once he realises the mate connection.
Story continues in book 2.

I was laughing so hard when they couldn't communicate! I imagined them sounding like they were talking with their mouth full. Hilarious!

Apart from that, I thought it would center a bit more on being apocalyptic, but I think the amount of action satiated me.

I do not remember why I picked up this book to read. Maybe because it sounded intriguing and I generally like sci-fi romance. Only I've just discovered I do not like totally out there sci-fi romance where the aliens are totally alien and look nothing like humans and do not have similar characteristics that draw them together. This one was interesting but very strange and while it was well written and relatively engaging I did not like the direction it was heading in, I did not like the drama that looked like it was going to have (I don't like drama), and I generally didn't feel connected with the characters. Because the aliens were so alien and they didn't understand each other at first there was a lot of angst and crying and wailing. That was understandable but very unpleasant. And I skipped to the end because I didn't feel like I wanted to finish the story and I didn't like how things were going down and what looked to be happening. More drama, things unresolved, and it looked like I needed to read another book to get to the end of Peyton and Tahk's story. Alas, this was not for me. I'm going to be a lot more careful about picking sci-fi romances from now on and pay very close attention to the images of what the aliens look like on the cover. Oh, and I should have heeded the author warnings at the beginning of the book too. My bad.

3 solid stars!

So this started out as a funny, snappy alien romance type story but the second half quickly became serious shtf. And I loved it both! I loved the pragmatic side of Peyton while still getting the alien romance swoons from it and Tahk is a sweetheart. Im also really enjoying the sort of quasi serious world building we seem to be headed for.

Though I didn't realize this was basically going to continue in the next book but that only makes it even better .. Gimme more Peyton and Tahk!

Reread finished 3\24\ 20 Loved it so much!

This book was so entertaining, I giggled to myself so much. I loved the whole intro. The communication issues were hilarious. I love the misunderstandings. My biggest pleasure was Colt. He was the surliest, cutest, old man. He said everything I wanted to. I applaud this author for finally writing a male human in an alien romance. It’s a nice change that not all the women were mated off. I’ve seen this book around but the cover threw me off. I want to see what comes of the Dahks having more than one mate. How that’s going to go over. There were so many great secondary characters. Colt, Hector, Viv, Uthyf, Fihk, and Brian. What happened to Grihk? There were some thing not discussed like how old the Dahks were. More about their culture. The world building was enthralling. I read some mating habits that had my mouth dropping wide open. I’m on to book 2 so hopefully it will be explained. I highly recommend this book.

This was good

This was my first book by this author. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the characters were fleshed out. I feel like I got enough background to I understand the world in the book. I look forward to the next book.
