2/5 stars!

You know when you know a book is bad but you can’t stop reading because you still want to know what happens and then it finishes and you are so disappointed because it was as bad as you knew it was going to be? Yeah… that is what this book was for me.

Thanks for reading!

Good but

I liked the story and the premise and the potential it has but it felt like nothing truly happened in this book. The biggest thing that actually happened was in the last sentence of the book. I’m curious to see where it’ll go so I’ll still read book 2 forsure but I wish there was a bit more action in this one

searching for a good rejected mate series

This is not that one. But I’ll keep searching. This book started out with a great premise. I like the whole mystery but there was no resolution or clear explanation on so many events. I understand if we do not get answers for the core thing but we did not really get any answer

*** Book Q & A***

* How did the book make you feel?: It honestly took me awhile to get through this book. It had a very solid beginning and setting, but the plot started to drag.
* How do you feel about how the story was told?: At first I was very sympathetic toward the h, but then her decisions became erratic. I didn’t feel very much chemistry between her and the two H’s. I can see the setup for the reverse harem, but I’m not really rooting for them.
* What did you think about the main characters?: The h’s backstory was so sad and I wanted to like her so badly, but at times she was immature and impulsive. The two H’s are at odds with one another and they’re like dogs marking their territory (fitting), but there’s nothing particularly redeeming or remarkable about either of them other than they’re hot pack Alphas and opposites- one is a nice guy and one is testy. Guess which one she sleeps with first!
* Which parts of the book stood out to you?: I loved the beginning. It was such a good setup for angsty goodness, but it fell flat for me. I loved the small town setting and the mystery, but also hated how oblivious the h is when she herself is a werewolf. WTF!? I loved the OTT evil woman. I think this series will be a bit too soap opera-y for me. I hate the back and forth, will they or want they, and the switching of partners.
* What themes/tropes did you detect in the story?: Rejected mate is one of my favorite tropes when done well (think Rachelle Mills’ Wattpad books), but this one just didn’t do it for me. I’d love to see a rejected mate book where the h ends up with the mate who rejects her.
* What did you think about the ending?: I’m semi-interested in what happens with the curse and the h’s newly-discovered supernatural abilities, but HOLY CLIFFHANGER. I’m not invested enough to continue at this time. Maybe later.
* What is your impression of the author?: I see potential and I appreciate the world building. The curse the h suffers with is fascinating.

Triggers: rape (off-page), brutal mutilation

I'm giving this book one star because it's a completed book. That's the best I can say about this book.

There are so many other well explained reviews of this book, read them to get a better understanding.

Basically Rune is running away from her abusive fated mate who rejected her. Her wolf has been severed from her.

She crashes her car on the side of a mountain and is terrified of running into 'real' wolves.

She stumbles into a shifter town which she doesn't even know is a town full of shifters. Ugh. How does this make sense?

Basically nothing happens in this book and I have no desired to continue reading the series.

Huh

Not sure where this is going. A wolf shifter who can’t shift was rejected by her mate. Runs away and ends up upon a little town.
