I really wanted to like this book. After reading other CR Jane and Mika Young books I had high expectations.

They fell flat. I was so at a loss about why the red flags didn’t push Rune to make changes. She left one MAJOR red flag and walked into another. I get that she didn’t have a car, but there are buses and as her car cost 10k to fix…she wasn’t going to get out of that debt  anytime soon working at a dinner.

Then we have two men who have no substance and they’re vying for her attention but also pushing her around. The town as a whole has danger vibes just like her original situation and I was not a fan.

The last chapter made me want to know more so I did pick up book two.

I really enjoyed this book! Rune was such an intriguing character. I felt so connected to her vulnerability and pain. To the hope that she felt and wished for. She is such a truly strong woman despite all that has happened to her. Watching her fight for herself and her freedom was truly heart wrenching and awe inspiring.

This town and the dynamics that were described were so interesting to watch unfold. To see how a shifter town ran and the ways in which they were protective of their space. But also how some were very open and welcoming to Rune and others were downright cruel. To see how there was so much more under the surface to what an outsider saw.

Wilder... goodness gracious this man! Despite his alpha hole tendencies this man was delicious. And when he finally opened up to Rune and they came together it was beautiful. It’s clear as day that there is a strong connection between them and I can’t wait to see what comes next for them.

And then there was Daxon. He so sweet and kind to Rune that you can’t help but love him. But after that ending,
I’m not quite sure what to make of him. I guess we will see.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It’s so unique and different from all of the other shifter stories that I have read. I fell in deep with Rune’s story and felt so connected to her. I truly can’t wait to see where this story goes next.

This book was amazing! I couldn’t not stop reading it, the characters were so well written and the world seemed so real. I’m really interested in seeing how her love interests develop and when her mate will come back into the picture. Book two cannot come soon enough!

I liked this book. The world of shifters it created was interesting, the idea of multiple different types of wolf shifters peaked my interests. I also liked that the whole time the main character and the reader wasn't really sure where things were headed. The ending leaves you wanting to read the next books.

Rune was rejected and abused by her fated mate. Once she manages to escape, she finds herself in a small town where nothing is quite what it seems.

Heads up warning, this is part of a series and ends on a cliffhanger! It also leaves more questions than it answers, along with a few things that may not seem to make sense at first glance, but really these just leave me wanting to read the next book!

The world building is great, and allows us to discover what's going on as Rune does, and the characters inhabiting it are interesting, with just enough info about their backstories to flesh them out without spoon feeding us.

Overall, this is a great start, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes next!
