3.5. It was really compelling but minus points for fatphobia and just like. The thing that was supposed to be the hopeful resolution was not hopeful. Beetle/alyce deserves to not work for someone who is so terrible. But whatever I still liked it.

Read for my Writing from History class. This is a good book, but it didn't quite grab me. Not sure why.

Appropriate, I think, for a second or third grade reader. Provides some insight into the middle ages and also teaches the importance of persistence and determination in the midst of failure.

I have taught this book many, MANY times and still love it.

It's a fine book for a young female reader -- really a good, moral story.

I read this one specifically because it was on the banned book list- and boy oh boy do I love reading banned books.

I didn’t love this one- I found a lot of it to be problematic, however it is pretty old and so there may be a lot of it just not aging well. There were some good coming of age, finding inner strength/self bits.  I thought it was just okay..
