Paper Princess is a really trashy book. But, at the same time, it was super entertaining and I couldn't stop reading it. It was so weird because normally I don't go for books that are quite like this without the plot and substance that I normally need, but for some reason this book really drew me in.

Don't get me wrong. There is a lot of problematic shit in this book (like the boys' treatment of Ella and how, sure, she "fights" back but then still wants in Reed's pants when he was a raging jackass and there's no question about how shitty that is), and there should definitely be an awareness that there's a lot of shady shit in this book and that there's definitely a part of it romanticizing awful behavior towards women (again, hey, Reed, you my brother). There's also its fair share of problematic situations too (depictions of casual addiction, teens humping each other everywhere, that whole pool house thing... both pool house things).

It's still super entertaining, though. So, if the above doesn't bother you and you enjoy some trash but some good trash, give this one a shot.

It's fun, horny, trashy, and stupid. What more could you want? To be honest, it's not about what it's missing... I would prefer it with a few choice scenes sanded off, like Easton casually threatening to rape Ella, the whole situation with Callum at the strip club, and the cage-dancing seventeen year olds. But I doubt any teenagers are likely to treat this like a handbook; I certainly didn't.

For the genre and the subject matter this book delivers exactly what you'd expect from a gossip girl type novel with some spice. It has a few moments that feel really awkward pacing wise, but overall it was fun to read and it was really easy to just sit in the world of this book and not get distracted or tired of reading it.

Ok, had I known the MCs would be in high school, not sure I would’ve read it. That being said, once I got over that surprise, it was actually pretty good. I enjoyed this book a lot and found myself covering the next page so I didn’t jump ahead. I’m interested in the reading the other BUT be warned, their story does NOT END in this book. I was so bummed that I had another two books before it changed POV (in a five book series?! ughhh) but I will read it because I literally can’t not read them after the ending.

I smelled something fishy on Brooke when Gideon acted weird when he came home and I could not be more wrong. She was a bitch grouping up with Dinah just for Royal's money. I think she blackmailed Gideon and Reed (I am afraid she might seuxally assulted them as well) behind Callum's back. Gideon and Reed kept it between themselves to protect everyone else in the house. That last chapter freaking crushed me.

Honestly I love this book because I live for drama and good angst. It gave me the impression of Gossip Girls playing on CW.

Solid bully romance. Thought the character development was on point. The characters felt real and complex. Definitely enjoyed the writing style. Mild in the spice department, but the tension was good. Definitely had my suspicions about the situation at the end. Will be continuing this set for sure.

I started reading this book because I was listening to the audio drama ‘The Royals of Malibu’ which is based on this series. I was tired of waiting for weekly updates and at the time I thought the books would be just like the audio drama (I was wrong). I think I actually prefer the books over the audio drama.

This book definitely became a guilty pleasure because by no means is the drama and the relationships that are portrayed in this book healthy (that’s okay though because not every book needs to be.) There’s a lot of sexism and toxicity book the book is also based in the south so…

This is your typical “good girl x bad boy” romance. That is if you can even classify Ella as a good girl and Reed as a bad boy (aside from trying to ruin Ella’s life before she got to Astor Prep and illegal street fighting Reed really isn’t even that much of a bad boy). Cliches aside this book was so entertaining to me. There were definitely moments where i was like “Ella stand up, have a backbone” but we wouldn’t have our main pairing if she did.

Reading Paper Princess felt like I was just watching a new season of Gossip Girl. The ending of book 1 is pretty similar to how season 1 ended in the audio drama so i wasn’t too rattled, but Reed Royal count your days!!
