Quite possibly even better than the first, this story of Morrigan's first year in the Wundrous society is the perfect blend of world building and mystery. As Morrigan learns more about Nevermore, her own knack, the other children in her unit, and what her patron, Jupiter, actually does on his extensive travels, the reader is shown a world with plenty of originality.
Townsend seems excellent at the fine art of balancing how much to tell the reader - and her own protagonist - in each installment, and this book will answer many questions but still reveal more mysteries. Word of mouth is catching up, and when I recommend this to people, I honestly call it 'the next Harry Potter' because the mix of plot, world building, and characters has no weak spots. A must read.

I don’t even know what to say. I LOVE this book, this series, so much. I don’t even think “love” is the right word. I so much more than love it. The nevermoor universe is so big, so amazing, and it feels so new and unique. The books contain the perfect amount of world-building to paint a picture, but not overload with information. Morrigan grows, so much. The world of Wunder is so large, and we’re only allowed to see a tiny bit of it, and I’m just so PLEASED to know that there is so much more to this that I don’t know.
I wish everyone I know read these books. I love them and I think they’re truly great. The mystery and adventure and the humor and the PURENESS and the darkness, I’m just. I don’t know what to say. This is, truly, a book for all ages. I feel like I may be appreciating it in a different way than I would’ve if I read it when I was in middle grade, but that does not make it ANY less enjoyable.
Now I just need to figure out what to do with the rest of my day while I’m nursing the book hangover.
