This was one of my favorite books as a child, in fact I still have my original copy I begged my dad to buy me in 2010.
I have read this book at least a dozen times since then. The growth of the characters never ceases to stop me in my tracks. I lost my dad a few years ago, and haven’t been able to pick it back up since. I wanted to share this book with my now partner, and read it together. I worried it wouldn’t hold its old charm, and can truly say it did, still wrecking me completely.
There are religious undertones that other may find triggering, but I have never found it overwhelming.
Still one of my favorite books!!

Personally, this was a very easy read. I finished it in just a few days! Each chapter is from a different character’s perspective. Usually, I don’t care for books like that because it can get confusing, but this was tastefully done! I had seen the movie prior to reading the book. I was surprised that there were a couple main events that were different from the movie; I think the book was better!!

Omg the way I sobbed. I don’t think I cried this much the last time I read this.
Honestly this story and writing is so simple and the kind of the same as his other books, but I still just really enjoyed this. I just love seeing Ronnie’s relationship with Will develop. As well as her relationship with her father which was just so sweet but heartbreaking. Her and Jonah were so sweet as well and he provided comedic relief which was nice. The plot was honestly kind of entertaining and it wasn’t all about the romance which was nice.
