I loved how this book picked back up in the end. The writing about finding little bits of joy after tremendous grief was like a soft hug. The characters are careful with each other, and I feel like I learned a little about what it's like to grieve a loved one as well as how to comfort those who have. Touching book.

I hated this book.

Excellent character story. I love when a book can blend several different perspectives into one novel and make me care about all of the characters. I loved reading about each and every person in this book. There’s plenty of loss and grief here, but there’s always hope underlying even the worst of circumstances. I thought this was the perfect read for this time of year. It makes me thankful for all of the people in my life and helps me remember that the ones I’ve lost will always live on inside me.

2.5

A quick, emotional read. I enjoyed each person’s story and how they all intertwined. Speaks true to unexpected life events.

“Living is fixing, living is working on everything that's wrong- or at least trying your hardest to.”

This is a overwhelming and heartbreaking story. Make sure you are ready to tackle all the pain. It was hard, at first, to push through. It felt like hit after hit with nothing good or hopefuly or happy. And just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, there was finally hope. It really is the only thing that can bring you through.

There are a lot of characters and POV in this story but they are easy to keep separate. Each is has a unique voice and definitely a unique situation but you can easily see the ways they overlap and appreciate the way this small town is woven together.

If you start and it feels heavy, just know it does get easier towards the end.

a lot of drama for a town in connecticut

20 pages in, I was sobbing. If you’re going through a loss, this book will have you crying so much. This was such a good read going through all these different lives and their life changes, but be ready to cry.

Started listening to this book on the last day of 2021, and finished on the first day of 2022. It is a quick read/listen - ordinary people's life. The beginning is good enough for me to keep read, yet the ending is a little too little to accomplish any theme...
