A bit slow in certain stories, yet, a complete Agatha Christie experience

Not typical Agatha Christie. Some of the stories were cute, others were out of left field.

A 275 -page book of short stories by the queen of crime.

Some were good and some weren't so. Be warned though, that this book has certain words in it that may cause offence to some readers. The 'N' word, is in there for example; a word used quite innocently by Ms. Christie but a word that is totally unacceptable, in any context, today.
There are also some very old-fashioned words that even I had to look up; words that are never written anymore or very rarely, at least. 'Enbonpoint' is one example that I particularly liked (in case you were wondering it means the plump or fleshy part on someone's body.)

I didn't really enjoy this as much as I thought I would hence the three stars. Most of the stories are around sixteen pages so it is good to dip into now and again if that is what you like to do, but mostly the endings weren't that exciting and in some, it never felt like it was an ending at all and finished quite abruptly.

Yikes dude. This conceit is really rough and mostly boils down to gender stereotypes and horrible conceptions of relationship dynamics. Real pickup artist shit. Icky Agatha, icky

Picked up this book in the library on a whim. Im glad it did each chapter is its own self contained mini mystery. This book was a pleasant reminder that Agatha Christie is more than just Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. A pleasant read being both comic and clever.

I preferred the first half of short stories where 'cases' come to Parker Pyne. They were genuinely more focused on human nature and happiness.

The final few cases were more crime based and didn't have the same feel.
