Normally, I like Foster's books. I couldn't get into it. Moving on to the next in the series... Hoping he did better.

This one always seemed to break characterization for me, but I did enjoy significant portions of it.

My biggest frustration - series wide, not just this book - is that things don't remain consistent: Antidotes that do or do not exist, for example.

It might be labeled a Pip & Flinx adventure, but they're barely in it.

One of the best of the Flinx novels. A great cast of characters, not a heck of a lot of Flinx himself but at least one really amusing bit with him. Lots of snappy, humorous dialogue. A great villain, active AAnn interaction. This was written originally as book number five but newer books have been written that take place earlier. The difference is a bit jarring...I am not a critic so I can't tell if the newer stuff is better written technically than this older novel but as story telling goes, this is tops in my book. Back in the day, I used to write my name and the date I read a book I owned in the inside cover. This comes in very handy when rereading lately and entering into Goodreads. Of course, I have read this particular book at least once every decade since the first time in April 1978 but I like to know when I first read things.
