If you looked up the definition of "a damn good book" you would see good omens listed in the examples. From the minute I opened the book I was laughing. It is seriously hilarious in way I think only a special kind of people would get. I have a feeling this will be my book of therapy year.

Well, Hell was worse, of course, by definition. But Crowley remembered what Heaven was like, and it had quite a few things in common with Hell. You couldn't get a decent drink in either of them, for a start. And the boredom you got in Heaven was almost as bad as the excitement you got in Hell.

Good Omens, The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch is a novel co-authored by Neil Gaiman & Terry Prachett. It revolves around topics of Antichrist, end of the world, angels & demons. Neil Gaiman’s fame was brought to my attention when I had watched trailer of Sandman, it was impressive.
With the recent hype of Good Omens (the series) & also the chemistry between the leads, I decided the plunge & read this one. Why I had expected an angel & devil to work side by side to stop the end of the world they so came to love from the very first page. It happened a bit differently from what I had expected.
·˚ ༘₊·꒰➳: ̗̀➛ Summary
The world is ending on a Saturday, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. That happens to be next Saturday. Everything is happening according to Heaven & Hell; so that the War can happen & they can declare who is the best. But one odd pairing of angel & devil, who have lived on Earth for some centuries & grown quite fond of it, are not very happy about the coming end. Also the Antichrist seemed to be misplaced.
The authors have a humorous & detached style of writing which suits the plot, given it revolves around the end of the world. This is one of my favorite writing styles. The characters which were mentioned in the list were not the only ones in the story. There were more characters scattered over the chapters, which slowed down the pace, making me loose interest.
For me, I had great expectations for this one. It may be also because I felt kind of slumpy, which might have not helped me get through the story. We got POVs of characters which happened to appear once or twice in the book, which threw me off the plot. I just skimmed through the last 150 pages in a blur.
In conclusion, I think if I give this book another chance some time in the near future, I might change my opinions on this.

I very much wanted to fall in love with this book. I enjoyed the humor that it offered but I really wished that Crowley and Aziraphale were present throughout the entire book. It felt disjointed and
everything was leading up to the Apocalypse and then just nothing happened. Life went onto Sunday. So maybe that’s the point, no matter what life goes on.
I am eager to watch the TV series and see how it holds up to the book. Maybe I can gain a different perspective from the show that the book didn’t quite hit me with. I think a piece of why I didn’t enjoy it as much was because there aren’t traditional chapters. So it made it hard to find a helpful place to stop reading. I understand why this book is structured the why it is, it just stressed me out.
