Me leyeron este clásico cuando era niña pero recién ahora lo leo yo directamente y aunque el misterio ya estaba resuelto para mi, el leer y profundizar en los sentimientos y el alma misma de los personajes ha sido toda una experiencia.
Todo sucede en el Londres victoriano y el narrador es Mr. Uttetson, abogado y amigo cercano del bien ponderado Dr. Jekill.
El abogado decide investigar la extraña relación que existe entre su amigo con un personaje bastante desagradable conocido como Edward Hyde.
Es una historia que pone sobre el tapete la dualidad del ser humano. Un debate entre el bien y el mal, lo correcto y lo incorrecto, lo aceptado y lo vetado. La presión social de mostrar siempre la mejor cara una fotografia a la hipocresía social de esa época y quizás de todas las demás.
Interesante la forma de meterte en la mente y corazón de los personajes. Ellos están en una lucha interna constante por una libertad de hacer sin juzgamientos; de dejar de reprimir sus deseos más profundos. Las tentaciones son grandes y esta lectura te hace reflexionar sobre cuan reprimidos podemos estar nosotros y cuanto dejamos que la sociedad influya en nuestros actos y decisiones.
Algo que me gustó mucho de esta versión fueron sus apéndices. Aquí varios especialistas discuten y exponen sus teorías (basadas en estudios científicos) sobre el comportamiento de los personajes. Muy instructivo.
Para mi, un clásico atemporal para leer varias veces. Si bien lo catalogan como se terror, yo diría que no es un horror gráfico o explícito, sino que éste aparece cuando la maldad inherente al ser humano cobra poder, engrandece y domina al ser.

I'm having a very hard time coming with a review for Jekyll & Hyde.
It's a classic, we all know it at least a little.
I adore the musical and have seen some movies so I know the story quite well. But reading the book is an entirely different feeling.
It's good but too short. I felt like everything happened all at once and that there was little room for any kind of development.
For it being one of the most well renown novels of all time, I was expecting a lot more. I actually like the adaptions of it better. But of course, those wouldn't exist without the original.

I truly loved reading this classic horror story that is timeless in its own right. This is the second time I’ve read this book and it still had a hold on me the second time around. There’s so much mystery in this book that it will always capture my attention every time I read it. This book will always make me think of what ifs. There is a certain part of this book that will always stump me because they never came back to explain what exactly made the gentlemen to fear so much. This psychological thriller is a chef’s kiss and I will always read this book because It captures my attention from the very first sentence. If you like a book about suspense they capture your attention from the very first sentence, you need to get this book today because you won’t be disappointed.

I like how he learned there was a murder and the dead guy had a letter addressed to him and was like “kk i’ll be there in a sec” and proceeded to eat breakfast before checking it out 10/10 priorities
