I found this book really interesting and with loads of vital bits of information for a new Shadowhunter 😉
I like how it explained some of the things from the mortal instruments series and it was a good companion book to bridge a gap between The Bane Chronicles and Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy.
Also, the notes from Clary, Jace and Simon were funny and gave me giggles.
Very interesting information and a good mix of formats, chapters, topics & drawings.

I like that the book had a lot of information about the world, but it did get boring from time to time.
*sigh*
I had a lot of problems with this. I still do like the world, and I like Simon. But the rest...ugh. Clary and Jace's notes were annoying. And this didn't read like a codex. This was supposed to be written by professional shadowhunters of the clave, not Cassandra Clare. It just did not work for me. Boring.
