Honestly, I'm torn about how to rate this book. It was enjoyable for the most part, but some sections felt quite dry and dragged, hindering the overall pacing. The writing style also attempted to incorporate a textbook-like quality at times, which felt jarring and not entirely successful.
Despite these shortcomings, the book did pique my interest in a potential spin-off. The lore surrounding the Silent Brothers and Iron Sisters is particularly fascinating, and I'd love to delve deeper into these enigmatic groups.
Ultimately, rating this book is a challenge. It feels similar to trying to rate a dry history textbook. Fans who are deeply invested in the Shadowhunter world and patient with slower pacing might enjoy it more.
You can never know too much about your favorite book series and the world the author created. I loved everything about this codex.
If I was a shadow hunter this would bent life I would carry it everywhere because it literally provides everything you need to know about this world in less then 300 pages!!! I loved the side notes by the characters they were hilarious !!

The Codex is a great extension to the shadow hunter world. Filled with lots of new content and known facts from the mortal instruments series, I found myself easily reinvested in the series. The comments were sometimes unneccessary but overall this book was a nice one to fill the void until Lady Midnight comes out.
Finished it in two hours. I feel like I have just run a marathon, and holy hell do I love this book.
