This was pretty interesting most of the time. But over all I felt as if I was reading a school book, which was probably the point, so great job, and so it wasn't the most entertaining. Also I had this as an E-book, which made it so hard to read the hand-written things! Clary's font was the worst!!
Pretty good, HILARIOUS banter in the margins. Apart from that, a pretty dull textbook-like read. Not much new info you wouldn't have picked up from reading the series already, but the scribbles in the sidebars make it worth it!

I wanted to read this book because it’s the only one I've not read in the series beside Chains of Thorns which I am waiting for the paperback to be released. I liked this but obviously there was no storyline and considering I have been reading about this world since I was fifteen, I knew most of the information.
The book is a training manual for all the new shadowhunters. Since the thirteenth century, the Codex has been the Shadowhunter’s best friend. This book covers it all. The history and the laws of their world, how to identify, interact with and if necessary, kill the world’s colour denizens. They answer questions such as what end of the stele should you write with and what is a Pyxis? This book has got the geography, history, magic and zoology of this world all in one book.
This book is basically an encyclopaedia on what you need to know about the Shadow world. It is necessary if you are new to the series because there is a lot of creatures and a lot of storylines. So this has all the information in besides what the storylines are. The comments and art made by Jace, Clary and Simon were the only thing that kept me interested and made me want to finish it.
This is an information overload and I literally read this because it’s just one of the final books I haven’t read, and I am now up to date on Cassandra Clare’s projects. I found myself skimming most of the book because we already knew about it. When Jace or Clary said I'm not reading it, I didn’t feel the need to.
It’s a good collector's item and good for any Shadowhunters fan.
Graphic: Genocide, Violence

I'm a big fan of the SHs' universe, but I was expecting a little more (and I don't mean a better book, because this one is awesome, but more stuff and more explaining). Anyway, i don't recommend it for someone who hasn't read any other SHs' books ( expecially TMI).

Love the comments written by Clary, Jace, etc. and the illustrations! Gives you an idea of what Clary's life is like when she's just training.
Runes. Runes. Runes.
Are you actually a fan of these books? You will find yourself attracted to read this book more than once just like Simon to the vampires when he was bitten.
It is perfection in one book. (Although I sobbed a bit when they mentioned Jordan. Why?!)
I read this and I... I just wish I wasn't a mundane. To not have the sight is a gift and a curse, fellow fandom sisters and brothers.
— Michelle Silvercross (Silvercross is the name I would choose if I was chosen to be a shadowhunter)

No fue tan divertido como pensaba, pero cuenta cosas interesantes del mundo de las sombras. Me perdí un poco con las anotaciones, la mitad del tiempo no sabía quien lo había escrito.
This was absolutely pointless but it made me happy and I'm ok with that.
Kinda unnecessary but still entertaining. I would only recommend this if you're really into shadowhunters, or else it might seem pointless and boring.
